Selection of projects to be funded in 2016" Capacity building in the field of higher education" within the ERASMUS program  has been completed. 736 projects were submitted for the competition.653 of them were admitted to the competition. 147 projects had been decided  to finance. Sumgayit State University participates one of three projects that Azerbaijan universities participate. The project is called "573630-EPP-1-2016-1-AZ-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP Ensuring support for the quality of education and training in Azerbaijani universities.
Project coordinator is Khazar University. Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan University, Baku Slavic University, Baku State University, Nakhchivan State University and Qafqaz University participate as partner in the project. Foreign countries are the following: University of Applied Sciences in Vienna (Austria), Gazi University (Turkey), Yuvyaskyulya University (Finland), Central European University (Hungary) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain).

The project's main goal is  to ensure development in the university by creating control mechanism for teaching and learning processes.

The project budget is € 908.623,00.

Duration of the project - 36 months.

It should be noted that it is the university's second Erasmus + project. Earlier Sumgayit State University has completed 4 Tempus and 1 NATO projects. Currently 3 Tempus projects are close to completion.
