Faculty of History and Geography
In 2000, it started working as a department of History and philology, in 2001 it became a faculty of History and philology, and in 2003-2014 it operated as an independent department of History. Since 2014, it has been called the faculty of History and geography. Since its establishment, the faculty has been headed by Prof. A.B. Bakhshaliyev.
There are 4 professors, 16 associate professors, 19 senior lecturers, 14 teachers working in the faculty, 16 doctoral and dissertation students at the level of doctor of philosophy, and 5 people at the level of doctor of science are engaged in scientific- research .
Teaching at the faculty is carried out in full-time and part-time form. Currently, 798 undergraduate students (693 of them study full-time, 105 part-time students) study at the faculty, and 46 graduate students study at the master"s level.

The main scientific directions of the faculty:
- Researching the history of Azerbaijan statehood from ancient times to modern times;
- Study of the history of Turkic peoples from the context of general history (from the earliest times to 1923);
-Modern learning technologies and its actual problems in teaching history;
- Socio-economic goals of landscape planning;
- Selection of appropriate methods during the teaching of geography;
- Directions of ensuring the social welfare of the population in the regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
The faculty cooperates with the History and Ethnology, Archeology and Ethnography, Institutes of Geography of ANAS, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University, as well as a number of higher education institutions of Turkey, Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as many scientific research centers.
