Career and Graduate Employment Center
The Career Center of Sumgayit State University was established according to the "Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Education" dated June 19, 2009, No. 833-IIIQ of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Statute of the Career Center of Sumgayit State University was approved by the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council of Sumgayit State University dated 29.05.2015 (pr. No. 08). The Career Center has expanded its activities in recent years. Therefore, the name and Statute of the Career Center were changed by the decision of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University dated 21.12.2022 (protocol No. 4). The Career Center has been renamed the Career and Graduate Employment Center.
The Career and Graduate Employment Center of Sumgayit State University is a structural division of the university and should organize the specialty-oriented experience of graduate students and undergraduates in the two-level structure of higher education, and support graduates in finding a job.
The Career and Graduate Employment Center intends to carry out its activities in accordance with the current legislation, on the basis of agreements and contracts concluded with state, private and foreign enterprises.
In the world experience, employment of graduates is considered one of the most important indicators in determining the ranking of universities, as well as faculties and departments. The Career and Graduate Employment Center prepares senior students studying at Sumgayit State University for the world of work by advising and guiding them on their career planning.
The main purpose of the creation of the Career and Graduate Employment Center is to increase the knowledge, practical skills and habits of young people, and to implement complex organizational, technical, informational, consulting, teaching and educational measures to solve their employment problems.
Currently, the CGEC is headed by Amirbeyova Nasiba Sirajgizi. Nasiba Amirbeyova graduated from the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction with a bachelor"s degree in 2008 and a master"s degree with honors in 2010, majoring in "Mechanical Engineering". Since 2014, she has been a doctoral student at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, majoring in "Systematic analysis, management and information processing". Since 2014, she has been a doctoral student at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, majoring in "Systematic analysis, management and information processing". In different years, she worked as the deputy dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Information Technologies, the head of the Innovative Business Incubator, as a teacher in the "Information Technologies and Systems" and "Technological machines and equipment" departments at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. Since 2018, she has been teaching in the "Civil engineering" specialty in SABAH groups. She participated in the Bydgosz Technical University in Poland with the Erasmus Exchange Program and Gazi University in Turkey with the Movlana Exchange Program. In order to establish a support mechanism for the country"s startup ecosystem, she participated in the Creative Spark project of Azerbaijan the British Council, and was sent to England and Estonia with the support of Innovation and Digital Development Agency to increase awareness in this field. The teams she mentored reached the finals in the "EdTech" startup competition of the Ministry of Science and Education and the CSBIC (Creative Spark Big Idea Challenge) competition. N. S. Amirbeyova is the author of a methodological tool, 2 subject programs, 14 scientific articles (one of them was published in the SCOPUS database) and thesis.
ACTIVITY DIRECTIONS OF THE CAREER AND GRADUATE EMPLOYEMENT CENTER:
- Creating an electronic database of students;
- Organization of career days;
- Expanding cooperation with Career and Graduate Employment Centers operating in higher schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Creation of fertile conditions for students to reveal their potential;
- Ensuring the development of students and graduates regardless of race, religion, gender, origin, ethnicity, language, belief, political and social affiliation;
- Taking into account the interests and needs of students and graduates in the direction of career development;
- Supporting the personal and professional development of students and graduates;
- Supporting the participation of trainees and graduates in internship programs
The main direction of the activity of the CGEC is to cooperate with local and international companies and state enterprises. Also, inviting representatives from industrial enterprises and successful SSU graduates to the university and organizing various meetings with students are considered to be the main activities of the Center. CGEC engages students in short and long-term courses and training programs, conducts career events, identifies job opportunities according to graduates" qualifications, etc.
In order to further expand the activity of the center, there are constantly updated social platforms called "SSU_ Career and Graduate Employment Center".
The goal is to support the job search of graduates and students, to send them information about various trainings, and to transmit information about conducting simulation-type interviews for students.
