Department of Foreign Languages
According to the decision of SSU dated 12.12.2014, the departments of Foreign Language (for humanitarian faculties), Foreign Language (for natural and technical faculties) and Russian language departments were united and named the Department of Foreign Languages. Since then, the department has been headed by Professor Iskenderova Nigar Valish gizi.

The department's employees have cooperative relations with the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of ANAS, Nizami Institute of Literature, Baku State University, Baku Slavic University, Baku Business University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Azerbaijan Oil Academy, Higher Oil School. At the same time, it has close relations with Kazan State University of Energy (joint conferences, webinars, students' olympiads).
FD 2.24 Dissertation council for organizing the defense of Ph.D. dissertations at SSU operates on the specialties 5706.01 - Azerbaijani language and 5716.01 - Azerbaijani literature. The dissertation council is chaired by prof. Nigar Iskenderova and prof. Ramazan Mammadov is a member of that council.
Numerous international projects have been implemented in the department. Prof. N. Iskenderova was the author and coordinator of 8 international projects. Among them, "Visiting scholar" (2014), "English Teacher Assistant" (2015, 2016, 2018 and 2024), etc. with the Fulbright program of the US Department.
