DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
Since 1972, the Department of Chemistry has been operating as a department of general education under the name of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. In the organization and formation of the department, candidate of chemical sciences professor I. Sadigov's service was great. He was the first director of the department in 1972-1974. In 1974-1986, the department was headed by associate professor R. Jalilov. In 1985, a new, specialty-oriented Electrochemical Production Technology Department was established on the basis of the department's base (head of the department, Assoc. Sh. Novruzov). Since the teaching of physical chemistry was conducted by the newly created department, the department was named General Chemistry in 1985, and Chemistry Department in 1996. From 1986 to 2004, the department was headed by Professor R. Sultanov, Doctor of Chemical Sciences. General and inorganic chemistry in 2001 on the basis of the basis of the Department of Chemistry in connection with the opening of new pedagogically oriented specialties at the University (head of the department Assoc. R. Kahramanov-2001-2015, Prof. M. Samadov-2015-2017), In 2004, the departments of Analytical chemistry (head of the department, Assoc. H. Eminov), and in 2005, of Chemistry Teaching Methodology (head of the department, Assoc. Aghaisa Askarov) were established, and by the decision of the University Scientific Council, the Department of Chemistry, in 2004, became the Department of Organic and Physical Chemistry. department (head of the department Assoc. Musa Mustafayev - 2004-2017). In 2017, the Department of Chemistry Teaching Methodology, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic and Physical Chemistry Departments were united, and the Chemistry and its Teaching Methodology Department was established on their basis (Head of department assoc.prof. Musa Mustafayev). From 04.04.2024, the name of the Department of Chemistry and its Teaching Methodology was changed to Chemistry. Currently, the department,is headed by assoc.prof. Musa Mustafayev.
