DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND ECONOMICS
According to the order of the rector of Sumgait State University No. R-45/1 dated September 16, 2024, the "Economy" department was canceled and the teaching loads were transferred to the "Finance and Accounting" department, and the Accounting and Economics department was established.
In 2002, at the Department of Accounting and Auditing, which was established on the basis of the department of General Economics, staff training was started for the Bachelor"s degree in Accounting and Auditing, and from 2003, for the Master"s degree. In accordance with the scientific and pedagogical activities of the department, the name of the department of accounting and auditing was changed to the department of finance and accounting by the order of the Rector of Sumgayit State University dated 30.03.2017 No. R-18/1. From the 2017/2018 academic year, in the Department of Finance and Accounting, 050403-Finance majors bachelor"s training and 050409-Accounting and 050406-Finance majors have been started in accordance with the new educational standard from the 2020/2021 academic year. At the same time, at the master"s level, from the 2017/2018 academic year, 060402- Accounting and auditing specialization in the production sphere of accounting and auditing specialization and from the 2023/2024 academic year, 060403- Banking specialization of the financial specialization were conducted. The Department of Economics was established in February 2011 on the basis of the Department of Economic Theory, and specialist training was conducted in the department on "Economics" and "Tourism Business Organization" specializations at the bachelor"s level, and "Economy Regulation" and "Tourism Economy" specializations at the master"s level.
Currently, the Department of Accounting and Economics is conducting bachelor"s training in the specializations of Accounting, Finance, Economy, Tourism Business Organization, and specialist training at the master"s level in the specializations of Accounting and Auditing, Banking, Economy Regulation, Tourism Economy in the production sphere.
In order to increase staff training in the department, it cooperates with the Institute of Economics of ANAS, ASU, BSU, ASOA, NSU, the Training Center of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Financial Science and Training Center under the Ministry of Finance, Economic Theory, Accounting and Accounting of the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics Departments of Analysis, Departments of Economics, Accounting of Atyrau State University named after Khalel Dosmukhamedov, Izmir Technical University of the Republic of Turkey. At the same time, the department cooperates with financial and accounting organizations, the Association of Professional Financial Managers of Azerbaijan, the Baku Reporting Center, the Center for Economic Studies and Research, the Association of Accountants and Risk Professionals of Azerbaijan, and the Association of Young Accountants of Azerbaijan. Employees of the department regularly participate in international trainings on the Erasmus and Enactus projects, and at the same time in financial and accounting trainings based on professional experience. The organization of industrial experiences for students" specialties is carried out in financial, tax, banking, insurance institutions, financial and accounting departments of enterprises.
In 2002-2008, assoc.prof. K.Kh.Abdullayev, in 2009-2010 cand.sciences of economics Sh.M.Ibrahimov and in 2011-2015 A.Y.Yahyayeva were in charge in the department. Currently, the department of Accounting and Economics is headed by associate professor Logman Abdullayev.
7 associate professors, 13 senior teachers (5 full-time professors), 1 assistant, 5 senior laboratory assistants, 1 laboratory assistant are working in the department of Accounting and Economics. Department employees:
