On December 17, the next meeting of Scientific Council was held at Sumgayit State University. Before discussing issues on agenda, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov informed that Ministry of Education allocated resource for the repair and reconstruction of student dormitory of SSU by the order of Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Rector also expressed his thoughts about increasing salaries of employees partially with university’s internal resources and notified that the principle of proportionality should be considered in increasing wages, there should be a difference between professor and docent, docent and assistant.

Head of Teaching Methodical Center docent Isabal Gurbanov gave information about preparation state for exam session of autumn semester of 2018/2019 academic year in Bachelor’s degree, head of Doctorate and Master programs office docent Sabit Khalilov in Master’s degree. They noted that exam questions were prepared in time, given to the students and examination papers were compiled. Then chairman of Scientific Section docent Samir Orujov reported about scientific-research works carried out in 2018. He noted that presently, 194 doctors of Philosophy, 36 doctors of sciences, 1 correspondent member of ANAS and 375 teaching staff are working at our university. 365 articles were published by our employees in 2018, 271 of them in our Republic, 94 of them abroad, 37 articles in impact factor journals. And also, 583 theses were published, 498 of them in the Republic, 85 abroad. 9 scientific conferences were held in current year, 4 of them international, 4 republican and 1 university conferences. Docent Samir Orujov notified that international relations of SSU are expanding every year. At present, student exchange is conducted between Sumgayit State University and Kazan State Power Engineering University. Cooperation agreement was signed between SSU and Atyrau State University of Oil and Gas, which is the member of Association of State Universities of Caspian States.

Docent Turgay Huseynov informed about cooperation agreement signed between SSU and Kazan State Power Engineering University, as well as his participation at scientific-practical conference held in KSPEU. He pointed out that he delivered report in section meetings with docent Shikar Mammadov. The docent highlighted that they met head of Department of Instrument-making and mechatronics docent O.V.Kozelkov, director of Institute of Electroenergetics and electronics Professor I.V.Ivshin and head of Teaching-methodical office Professor S.N.Zaripova.

Scientific secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov gave information about execution of decisions of Scientific Council. He notified that 69 decisions were made in the meetings of Scientific Council held in September, October and November. “In 2018, 11 associates got PhD, 1 doctor of sciences scientific degree, 6 docent scientific title at the university”.

Afterwards, current issues were discussed. It was noted that 5 teaching aids were accepted by Scientific Council for giving publication right (Griffin), 2 of them are textbooks, and 3 are subject programs.

At the end Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated collective of SSU on occasion of 31st of December – Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and New Year, wished them health and success.
