On January 3, exam session of autumn semester of 2018-2019 academic year launched at Sumgayit State University. Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov signed an order “About organizing and holding exam session” dated December 11, 2018 for organizing exam session of autumn semester of 2018/2019 academic year according to existing rules in educational institutions and for providing transparency and objectivity in estimation of students’ knowledge, creating exam headquarters at education institutions. For execution of this order, another order was signed at Sumgayit State University. According to this order faculty deans and department heads have concrete duties for holding exams transparent and objective. Examinations are carried out in a written form, in a case of necessity it can be held in a form of verbal dialogue or test. Headquarter and “Hotline” created at the University for investigating and solving discontent that may occur during the exam session, as well as the application and suggestion boxes are placed in all teaching buildings of the University. Chief of exam Headquarter and “Hotline” is Professor Shirkhan Salimov. For controlling autumn exam session our representatives are attached on faculties: vice-rector on Correspondence, Distant and Extra education docent Gafar Atayev on the Faculty of Chemistry and biology, Physics and electroenergetics; vice-rector on Science and Innovations Professor Ramazan Mammadov on the Faculty of History and geography, Philology, Economics and management, Engineering and Mathematics. Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov also observes exam session, cares about attitude of students toward exam process and gives his assignments.

On January 4, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, vice rector on Teaching Organization and Training Technologies docent Natig Talibov, vice-rector on Correspondence, Distant and Extra education docent Gafar Atayev, chairman of Teaching Methodical Centre docent Isabal Gurbanov and Faculty deans observed exam process. Rector listened to thoughts and questions of students about exam process and gave his assignments. The students also appreciated the works done for providing objectivity and transparency during examinations.

Exams are open to community at the universities. It is planned to hold “Open door” days with the participation of Public Control Board of the university, parents and others during exam session.
