On January 30, the following training on “Azerbaijan State Youth Policy of Heydar Aliyev” was held at Heydar Aliyev School of Sumgayit State University.

Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov launched the event with welcome speech and spoke about care and attention of Great leader to youth during his administration. He said: “Youth policy in Azerbaijan always has a special place as the main part of state policy. Heydar Aliyev specially cared the solution of problems of youth, improvement of social welfare and increasing their intellectual level and socio-political activity. Hundreds of Azerbaijani youth were sent to leading higher education institutions of Soviet Union by the initiative of National leader Heydar Aliyev”. Noting advancement stages of Azerbaijani youth in independence years, state care to youth and gained achievements in this field, Rector emphasized that Great leader called special attention to active participation of youth in socio-economic, public, political and cultural life of state and society. One of the great strides made in this direction was institution of Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism on July 26, 1994. In 1995, he suggested to hold Forum of Youth in Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev directed to hold I Forum of Independent Azerbaijani youth in 1996 and personally participated there. On February 1, 1997 he adopted Order on “About declaring February 2 – the Day of Azerbaijani youth” while accepting a group of youth in I anniversary of the Forum. Since that time 2 February is celebrated the holiday of Azerbaijani youth solemnly. Azerbaijani youth always feels state care and attention. The purpose of youth policy founded by Heydar Aliyev is to reveal talented young persons and provide their contribution to future of the country. At present state youth policy determined by National leader is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He trusts youth for the sake of making the country powerful; state programs are adopted for creating circumstances to them. Azerbaijani youth plays active role in socio-political life of Azerbaijan. They honor our country in international Olympiads and sports contest with their achievements.

The following persons delivered presentations in the event: Deputy head of Sumgayit city organization of New Azerbaijan Party on work with Youth , head of Free Trade Union Committee of the University, docent of Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European Nations History Elmar Khalilov - “Heydar Aliyev’s Azerbaijan State Youth Policy”; lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology and Political sciences Gunel Adigozalova – “Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijani youth policy”; head of Student Trade Union Committee, senior lecturer of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and its teaching methods, PhD in Philology Nemat Ibayev – “Voluntariness is a love to Homeland”; chairman of Student Youth Organization, IV course student of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics Nijat Huseynov – “The role of Student Youth Organization in promotion of Heydar Aliyev’s ideas”; IV course student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology Gunel Rahimova – “Activity of Youth Foundation under President of Azerbaijan Republic in implementation of State youth policy”. They widely spoke about life and activity of Great leader Heydar Aliyev and his services in upbringing patriotic, intelligent and healthy young generation. The speakers noted: “The government performs all necessary measures for advancing state youth policy, providing participation of youth in positions of civil service and solving their socio-economic problems. We could say that at present, Azerbaijani youth has gained prestige in the world with their intellectual, creative and spiritual and ideological maturity as a consequence of executed works and performed policy”.
