On March 7, an event was held at Sumgayit State University dedicated to March 8 – International Women’s Day.

Commencing the event with welcome speech, vice-rector on Teaching Organization and Training Technologies docent Natig Talibov congratulated all ladies, attending the event and wished them happiness and success in their future work. He notified: “Gender policy in Azerbaijan has been founded by Great leader Heydar Aliyev. He always highly appreciated the services of women for bringing up young generation in the spirit of patriotism. As a result of the gender policy equal opportunities in all spheres of public life have been created for women. Continuation of this policy by President Ilham Aliyev extends the responsibility of Azerbaijani women. Women have great labor in achieving substantial achievements. They have significant position in the society. Azerbaijani women decently represent our country in international arena. We see it in the activity of first vice-president of Azerbaijan Republic Mehriban Aliyeva. Mehriban Aliyeva is one of the most famous Azerbaijani women who is able to be a mother and public figure at the same time.

Afterwards, vice-rector presented certificates of honor and presents to female employees for their active participation in public life of the university. They expressed their gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, first-vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva and rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov for care and attention shown to women in the country.

The event went on with interesting concert program by well-known singers and “Sema” dance group of the University.
