On April 25, Sumgayit State University hosted Republican scientific conference entitled “Development perspectives of non-oil sector of Azerbaijan”, dedicated to 96th anniversary of National leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.

The participants included: chairman of the Committee of Economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship of Milli Majlis academician Ziyad Samadzade, first deputy head of Executive Power of Sumgayit city Teymur Samadov, chairman of Financial Scientific-Educational Center under Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan Republic Elman Huseynov, first deputy head of Teaching Center of Ministry of Tax of Azerbaijan Republic Jeyhun Mehdiyev, director of “Azerchemistry” PU, “Ethylene-Polyethylene” plant Ogtay Niftaliyev, a group of employees of the institution and scientists of leading higher education institutions.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov launched the conference with welcome speech, greeted the guests and expressed his satisfaction on seeing them at the university. He said: “Recently our country could improve its socio-economic development indicators. The care and attention by the government to the advancement of non-oil industry is giving its positive outcomes. Development indicators are increasing exactly in non-oil industry. “Contract of century” founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev has been the foundation of our socio-economic progress. By this contract Azerbaijan has become the owner of its natural resources. Petroleum is our natural resource, so we will use it. Prolongation of the contract till 2050 displays that oil will play the main role in the advancement of country’s economy. According to strategic line of President Ilham Aliyev on “Future development of Azerbaijan must be connected with development of industry” and the result of industrialization policy conducted in the country, hundreds of modern industrial enterprises and fields are established, the size of export rose”.

Chairman of the Committee of Economic policy, industry and entrepreneurship of Milli Majlis academician Ziyad Samadzade delivered speech on “Strategic importance of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan” and analyzed conducted economic reforms and implemented strategic programs in the country. He noted: “The policy run by our president serves the interests of Azerbaijani nation and protection of economic security. 2019 will be a significant year for Azerbaijan in accordance with gained outcomes”.

First deputy head of Executive Power of Sumgayit city Teymur Samadov delivered greetings of Mayor of Sumgayit city Zakir Farajov and spoke about the role of Heydar Aliyev in improvement of Azerbaijani economy. He said: “National leader Heydar Aliyev called special attention to the progress of economy in all periods of his administration. His political course is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev according to actual challenges of modern period, thus our country is advancing rapidly”.

The following persons delivered reports in the conference: head of Department of Administration of trade and customs of UNEC Professor Arif Shakaraliyev – “Development and diversification problems of non-oil sector in modern period”; deputy director of ANAS Institute of Economy on Scientific works docent Allahyar Muradov – “Evaluation of impact of business environment to the improvement of human capital”; head of the Department of Business administration and management of SSU docent Galib Huseynov – “Development problems of small and medium businesses in Azerbaijan”.

Within the conference cooperation agreements were signed by rector of Sumgayit State University Professor Elkhan Huseynov, chairman of Financial Scientific-Educational Center under Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan Republic Elman Huseynov, first deputy head of Teaching Center of Ministry of Tax of Azerbaijan Republic Jeyhun Mehdiyev on establishing and developing mutual relations on education and research fields, holding trainings and courses, organizing joint events, excursions, trainings, seminars, round tables, conferences, forums, preparing textbooks, monographs.

It should be noted that 160 articles and theses from 21 universities of our republic were accepted and published as a conference materials collection.

The conference went on by section meetings.
