SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR ENTITLED “CONCEPT IN PHILOLOGICAL THOUGHT”
On April 29, the seminar on “Concept in philological thought” was held by the organization of Foreign languages department of Philology faculty.
The purpose of the event was explanation of history and comprehension of notion of concept and determination of its role in linguistics and philosophy, cognitive linguistics and linguoculturology.
Chairwoman of Foreign languages department Professor Nigar Isgandarova commenced the seminar, hailed the guests and spoke about significance of the seminar and history of concept. She said: “The term concept has become one of the popular notions in modern humanitarian literature. This interest is related with relative universality and globalization processes, since every local culture tries to preserve its features. Different types of concept emerge while studying these different cultures and countries. Discourse about concept first emerged in philosophy. The interest arose to this term in linguistics at the beginning of XX century and penetrated to cognitive linguistics and linguoculturology. From the beginning of XXI century, various approaches emerged to the comprehension, explanation and research of concept in modern humanitarian sciences. At present the notion of concept is widely used in philosophy, linguistics, politics, culturological and other humanitarian research”.
Professor of AUL Adil Babayev delivered report on “Concepts of language and religion”, vice-rector on Science and Innovations of SSU Professor Ramazan Mammadov on “Subtext like a linguistic category”. Adil Babayev showed forms of language concepts and their reflection inside the text and cited samples of concept in holy Quran. Ramazan Mammadov elucidated essence of formation and transmission mechanism of information via language in the notion of “subtext”.
The seminar concluded by discussion around the topic.
