A series of events arranged at Sumgayit State University, dedicated to 96th anniversary of national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.

On May 4, the event was held entitled “Adroitness of economists on table games” on 3 types of sport (draughts, chess and backgammon) among students, organized by Economics and management faculty.

Opening the event, dean of Economics and management faculty docent Aynura Yahyayeva spoke about historical services of Heydar Aliyev in advancement of independent Azerbaijan and his care and attention to the improvement of science in our country. She pointed out that great leader’s strategy and policy, which was based on national interests, successfully carried on by President Ilham Aliyev. The dean said: “Sumgayit State University is one of the prestigious higher education institutions of the republic. The university gains achievements not only in education, but also in the field of sport. We are proud that we have students, who represent our country in international sports arena worthily. Amateur circles like dance, reading under Student Club, rhetoric club, sport sections – chess, football, badminton, table tennis, shooting, swordsmanship are functioning at the university for students”.

Afterwards, the competition got started.
