On May 7, scientific - practical conference was held on “Heydar Aliyev’s life and activity”, dedicated to 96th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev by the organization of History and geography faculty.

At first the participants laid flowers in front of the bust of Great leader at university foyer and commemorated his memory.

Professor of History and geography faculty, honored teacher Hasan Sadiqov delivered speech in the conference and notified that Heydar Aliyev was a politician born for great politics, who could express himself in solution of not only domestic, but also world-wide issues. He said: “Heydar Aliyev devoted his life and statehood experience to the future and the growth of Azerbaijan. He formulated the political and economic bases of independent Azerbaijani statehood, realized the dream of the nation of being sovereign and powerful. As a result of Heydar Aliyev’s successful policy Azerbaijan has been escaped from the threat of collapse and turned to be a developing state. Uniting nation around himself, he prevented insidious intents of internal and external forces. Because of his unprecedented services for the people and country, 96th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev is celebrated with respect in all regions of our country and abroad, as well”.

The following persons delivered speech in the conference accordingly: dean of the Faculty of History and geography professor Adil Bakhshaliyev – “Heydar Aliyev is an architect of Azerbaijani statehood”, senior lecturer of Department of Philosophy, sociology and political studies Zahid Bunyadov – “Heydar Aliyev’s youth and activity at State Security Service”, chief of the Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European nations’ history Professor Shirkhan Salimov – “The period of Heydar Aliyev’s administration in Soviet Azerbaijan”, docent of Department of History and its teaching methods Samir Karimli – “Moscow period of political activity of Heydar Aliyev”, chief of Department of History and its teaching methods docent Sona Maharramova – “Nakhchivan period of Heydar Aliyev’s activity”, head of the Department of Philosophy, sociology and political studies docent Savvara Rzaguliyeva – “Heydar Aliyev is a founder of independent Azerbaijan”. The speakers spoke about wise and pragmatic policy of Heydar Aliyev, as well as his attention and care to the improvement of education and to young generation. They highlighted that modern Azerbaijan is rapidly developing and strengthening its position among world countries, as a result of policy of Heydar Aliyev and his successor President Ilham Aliyev.
