According to Order issued by President Ilham Aliyev, May 23 is marked as a Professional Day of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources staff. On this occasion scientific-practical conference was held at Sumgayit State University on “Ecological awareness” by Ecology department of Chemistry and biology faculty.

Seminar launched by sounding state anthem of Azerbaijan Republic.

Chief of Ecology department Rahila Ahmadova hailed the guests and congratulated the ecologists on this day. She notified that Sumgayit State University regularly holds educational events for promoting protection of environment among youth. Widely speaking about the works executed in our country about ecological problems and their solution Rahila Ahmadova highlighted the significance of ecological awareness. She said: “The seminar aims to increase the interest of youth to ecological field and enlighten them in this sphere. The knowledge and experience gained within ecological enlightenment is a primary factor in formulation of ecological culture and society. Substantial works have been done in our country in direction of protecting environment, restoring ecological balance, conducting international ecological programs, restoring natural resources, building national parks and ecological network. Under the guidance of vice-president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and chief of IDEA Public unity Leyla Aliyeva, important works executed for protecting animals”.

Afterwards the following persons delivered speech in the event: Sector head of Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Division of Sumgayit city № 4 Elmar Musayev – “Organization of educational work in the field of managing solid wastes”, senior consultant Vusal Ibrahimli – “Negative impact of plastic wastes to environment and importance of using alternative packaging materials”, the students of Chemistry and biology faculty Rana Alizade, Seljan Alasgarova – “Pollution of Caspian sea”, Aytan Bakhishova – “Pollution of soil”, Sabrina Farzaliyeva, Parvin Isgandarova – “Radiation”.

Head of the Department of Chemistry and its teaching methods Musa Mustafayev, docent of the Department of Geography and its teaching methods Kamil Abdulov, head of the section of Cleaning department of Sumgayit city Anar Mustafayev, deputy mayor of Sumgayit city Municipality Musa Hasanov, correspondent of AZERTAC Atraba Rzayeva delivered speech and spoke about ecological conditions in Azerbaijan, natural resources, their protection and restoration ways.

Executive director of “Healthy environment, healthy future” NGO Vusal Hatamov congratulated the ecologists on this day and awarded a group of employees of Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Division of Sumgayit city № 4 and chief of Ecology department Rahila Ahmadova with certificates for their activity in the sphere of “Ecological enlightenment of population”.

In the end the video and “Olive” sketch displayed. The students sang the song “Let’s protect the nature”, written and composed by II course student Ilham Babayev.
