On August 15, the enrollment of students started at Sumgayit State University. First-year students of the 2019/2020 academic year are registered in faculties, having submitted the necessary documents.

Today, the rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, monitored the process of document admission. He talked with university representatives involved in receiving documents, and asked about the difficulties in this process. The rector also met with students and their parents. He congratulated the freshmen on entering the university and wished them success in their studies. Professor Elkhan Huseynov told students and their parents about the history of the university, about success, upcoming tasks and international relations of the university. It was noted that more than 6000 students are currently studying at the university, bachelors in 48 specialties and masters in 53 specialties are being trained. The university has 29 departments at 7 faculties, 6 research laboratories, Teaching Methodical Center, Doctorate and Master Programs Office, Scientific Section, International Students Office and other bodies. For the first time in the history of SSU, specialists are trained under the program of a doctor of sciences. The creation of the Dissertation Council and the possibility of defending dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science open up great opportunities for young scientists.

Rector also emphasized that the university is preparing qualified specialists for enterprises that work on technologies that meet modern international standards. Our experts work at various enterprises and institutions of the country. SSU has 3 educational buildings, 2 dormitories, classrooms and laboratories that meet modern requirements, a rich scientific library, Information and Computer Center equipped with modern equipment. The University also has Editorial and Publishing Department and 3 canteens. To organize the leisure time of students, Student Club Debate-oratory Club, Rhetoric Club are functioning. There are sports sections in chess, badminton, table tennis, shooting, fencing, etc.

Linguistic Center is functioning at the university where students can expand their knowledge of foreign languages on a free basis. Members of the Student Scientific Society took part not only at university conferences, but at national and international ones.

In conclusion, students and parents expressed their gratitude to the university administration for the high organization of the process of registration of students.

It should be noted that, on the basis of a resolution of the board of the Ministry of Education, the university created conditions for freshmen to pay tuition fees for six months. The admission process will continue until August 27.
