AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SSU LINGUISTIC CENTER PARTICIPATED IN THE TRAININGS ENTITLED ENGLISH LANGUAGE WEEK ORGANIZED BY THE EMBASSY OF AMERICA
From September 9 to 13, the training entitled English Language Week on the topic “Using Technologies in English Language Learning” was held at the Baku American Center supported by Embassy of America in Azerbaijan. The training was attended by over 100 English teachers from Baku and the country's regions.
Sumgayit State University was represented at the trainings by Eminova Aysel, a translator and methodist of Linguistic Center. The event included the following sessions: motivating learners; using visuals in classroom delivery; integrating mathematics into the EL classroom; speaking strategies for larger classes; bringing new learning research into the language classroom; reflection and higher order thinking for advanced learners; lesson planning for effective language teaching; providing written corrective feedback for EFL essays.
For 5 days, English specialists Dr. Stephen Sadlier, Richard Schlight and Jordan Troisi provided teachers with information on new teaching methods. The US ambassador to Azerbaijan, Earle Litzenberger, spoke at the closing ceremony. He thanked all the participants in the training for the contribution they made to teaching English, and wished them success in their work.
It should be noted that SSU employee Eminova Aysel was noted among the 10 most active participants in the trainings and was awarded the certificate.
