On September 23, an educational event was held at Sumgayit State University by organization of Board of Young Scholars and Specialists aimed at promoting III Republican Innovation Competition.

It is worth to note that the Competition was announced by the Ministry of Economy, together with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, the Ministry of Culture, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the branch of the company Ernst & Yanq Holdings (SiAyEs) Bi.Vi in Azerbaijan and the Representative Office of the United Nations Development Program in Azerbaijan. The purpose of the competition is to promote Sustainable Development Goals of UNO’s “Transformation of the world: Agenda for Sustainable Development till 2030”, encourage innovations, as well as to support the implementation of the Development Concept “Azerbaijan 2020: Looking into the Future” and the “Strategic Roadmaps for National Economy and Main Sectors of Economy”.

Vice-rector for Science and Innovations prof. Ramazan Mammadov commenced the event by welcome speech, greeted the guests and spoke about innovations in the country, the works done for realizing potential knowledge, skills of students and the achievements gained at international and republican competitions.

Department head of Ministry of Economy, secretary of National Coordination Board for Sustainable Development Huseyn Huseynov delivered speech and emphasized significance of innovations in terms of ensuring sustainable advancement of economy, enhancing export potential and strengthening protection of environment. He informed young researchers about competition rules and called them to participate at the project actively.

Representative of Agriculture Agency of UNO Namig Mammadov noted that realization and promotion of events ensuring integration of Azerbaijan to innovation processes and innovation economy is reflected in substantial strategic programs and documents, as well as in Development Concept “Azerbaijan 2020: Looking into the Future” and the Strategic Roadmaps for various sectors.

Vice-rector for Humanitarian Issues docent Ramiz Huseynov spoke about significance of innovations and highlighted that, such competitions will contribute to application of academic achievements and innovations to different areas and improvement of national innovation system.

Representative of Social Innovation laboratory Aytaj Asgarova delivered presentation on stages of III Republican Innovation Competition.

Afterwards the video demonstrated about the project and the participants’ questions were responded.
