On October 4, the event was held at SSU on occasion of International Teachers’ Day.

Rector of university Professor Elkhan Huseynov commenced the event with welcome speech, congratulated all teachers on occasion of this notable day, and wished them success on their pedagogical activity. He widely spoke about historical importance of the day, priorities of education policy run in the country, as well as attention and care to teachers. He notified that, the success achieved as a result of Heydar Aliyev’s care to education system of Azerbaijan is undeniable reality. “The society is forming and advancing thanks to their work. National leader Heydar Aliyev always evaluated teachers and expressed his goodwill about them. He respected teachers and cared about their financial state and prosperity” said the rector. Professor Elkhan Huseynov emphasized that after advent of National leader Heydar Aliyev to power education began to advance as all the fields; this advancement went on in the administration of Ilham Aliyev, great strides have been made toward integrating Azerbaijani education to world education system. Extensive reforms are carried out in education; increasing salaries of teachers, education employees, and also scholarship of students is a manifestation of value given to our teachers and education, as well. The prestige of teachers has increased significantly by successful education policy and this expanded creativity opportunities of teachers. Rector also highlighted that the achievements of Sumgayit State University are gained thanks to labor of teachers, who work in the university.

Afterwards a group of lecturers were awarded with honorary diplomas and presents for actively participating at social life of the university, for their scientific-pedagogical activity and services in improvement of education by university administration.

“Sema” dancing group of the University, popular artists and art figures of the Republic: Arzu Aliyeva, Ayten Maharramova, Gulzar Farajova, Alikram Bayramov, Izzat Baghirov congratulated professor-teacher staff with their performances.
