From November 21 to 22, two-day international seminar was held entitled “Improving current syllabuses of Azerbaijani higher education institutions for passing international accreditation” within Technical Assistance Mission (TAM) of European Union by organization of Baku Engineering University and National Erasmus+ Office in Azerbaijan.

The seminar attended by representatives of Ministry of Education, international institutions and universities.

Delivering welcome speech, rector of BEU Professor Havar Mammadov notified that recently for the purpose of training highly-qualified staff in Azerbaijani higher education institutions several projects have been carried out and results gained. Rector also touched upon the “State Program on improving international competitiveness of higher education system in Azerbaijan Republic for 2019-2023” signed by President Ilham Aliyev. The main goal of the document is training new generation specialists by benefiting from advanced scientific achievements and innovative training and teaching technologies and also modernizing Azerbaijani higher education system via international dual diploma programs. H.Mammadov emphasized that the main purpose of TAM, financed by European Union, is supporting planning and implementing initiatives and activities on management of culture in national and local level.

Chief of the National Erasmus+ Office in Azerbaijan Parviz Baghirov spoke about foundation history of the project in Azerbaijan and its significance.

Afterwards the project manager, senior lecturer of the Department of Industrial engineering of BEU Sevil Imanova gave broad information about the seminar organized within TAM project.

The professor from Spain Mrs. Cecila Ruiz Esteban spoke about quality assurance in European higher education area and gave her recommendations for improving current syllabuses of Azerbaijani higher education institutions. She informed about universities which joined to European Union, programs and financial aid allocated to universities and highly appreciated the participation of teachers and students at these projects.

After speeches the participants’ questions were responded.

It should be noted that Sumgayit State University was represented in the seminar by head of the Department of Business administration and management docent Galib Huseynli, senior lecturer of the Department of Mathematical analysis and functions theory Gunay Ismayilova and employee of the Evaluation and quality control section Sadagat Fatullayeva.

Spanish professor Cecila Ruiz Esteban delivered presentation on “Mutual relation between accreditation standards and assurance of internal quality of higher education institutions” and “From national frame to international accreditation”. Our representatives actively participated in held discussions.
