On November 28, at Sumgayit State University with the organizational support of the Ministry of Education of the AR, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University and Sumgayit State University, the International Scientific Conference "Innovative development perspectives of chemical technology and engineering" was held dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Sumgayit city.

Along with Azerbaijani universities, the conference was attended by leading scientists from Russia, England, Turkey and other countries, as well as the head of the scientific sector of the Ministry of Education of the Republic Afgan Abdullayev, director of ICA academician Vagif Abbasov, director of ICA academician Vagif Farzaliyev.

The conference was opened by vice-rector for Science and Innovation of SSU, Professor Ramazan Mammadov. He greeted the guests and handed them the greeting of the rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov. The vice-rector spoke about the history of the university, its areas of activity, about international programs and projects carried out at the university. It was noted that SSU has been the co-chair of the Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities since 2015. The scientific relations of SSU are expanding every year. From July 14 to 21, this year, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the organization of the Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities, Sumgayit State University organized the Summer School “Travel to the Land of Fire - Azerbaijan”, which was held at a high level.

Vice-rector emphasized that this year Sumgayit is celebrating its 70th anniversary. The most glorious pages of the city’s history are connected with the name of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. In the 70-80s, the development of the oil and chemical industry was made possible as a result of the care and attention of a nationwide leader. Sumgayit State University is the only university in the city. For 57 years now, he has been training qualified personnel in various specialties. A significant part of these personnel works in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Complex.

Among the innovative research projects carried out at SSU, there is also a share of chemical and technological research. The scientific results achieved by SSU scientists attract attention abroad. The conference held today and its geography proves this. The conference is attended by employees of universities, institutes and organizations of 5 countries (Russia, England, Turkey, Mozambique and Azerbaijan). More than 300 abstracts were submitted to the organizing committee of the conference. They are already published as a compilation. In conclusion, vice-rector Ramazan Mammadov wished success to the conference participants.

The following people made report in the conference: professor of USPTU Tatyana Prosochkina with a report "Modeling of petrochemical systems using digital technologies", professor of ANAS Tarana Mammadova - with the report "Oxygen-based additives based on carbon dioxide to diesel fuels", professor of Perm National Research Polytechnics University Yevgeniy Moshev - with the report “Problem-oriented systems as an effective means of solving the problems of integrated logistics for equipment for chemical production”, associate professor of Middlesex University of England Georgius Douflas - with the report “Path towards innovative learning”, professor of SSU Mukhtar Samedov with the report “Study of the decomposition process natural phosphates in sulfuric acid in the presence of intensifying additives”, associate professor Natig Talibov with a report “Development issues of computer-aided design systems for basis of design patterns. " Based on the results of scientific reports, interesting discussions were held.

The work of the conference continued in six sections.
