SSU ACADEMIC AND STUDENT STAFF ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN INITIATIVE OF PLANTING 650,000 TREES A DAY
About 26,000 trees were planted in Sumgayit city within the initiative of the first vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva to plant 650,000 trees a day on the occasion of anniversary of genius poet Imadaddin Nasimi.
Within the campaign 16,000 trees were planted in Sumgait city territory of Baku-Guba highway and 26,650 trees in various parts of the city.
Zakir Farajov, the head of Sumgayit city Executive Power, heads of institutions, enterprises and organizations, as well as the lecturers and students of Sumgayit State University participated in the tree-planting campaign. The campaign serves to promote the poet"s world-wide poetry internationally, to further increase the greenery in our country, to reduce the effects of global climate change, and to provide solidarity for the health of the people.
It is worth noting that Imadaddin Nasimi"s rich heritage, which deeply influenced to the artistic and philosophical thinking of the Azerbaijani people, is still important in the moral and spiritual development of the people. Announcement of 2019 "Year of Nasimi" by President Ilham Aliyev in connection with the 650th anniversary of Imadaddin Nasimi opened new opportunities for the promotion and study of literary heritage of the outstanding poet. And also several substantial events are held in our country and around the world as part of the "Year of Nasimi".
