THE DISCUSSION OF SELF-ASSESSMENT REPORT ON THE SPECIALTY “CHEMICAL ENGINEERING” IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE TWINNING PROJECT OF EU
On December 5, within the framework of the joint project Twinning of the Ministry of Education and the European Union “Support to strengthening Higher Education in Azerbaijan”, a next meeting of European and local experts was held at Sumgayit State University.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Strasbourg University of France, the University of Latvia, the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after Y.H. Mammadaliyev, Khazar University and coordinator of the Ministry of Education.
Vice-rector for the Teaching Organization and Training technologies Assoc.prof. Natig Talibov welcomed the experts. He spoke about the activities of the university, structural and educational programs, as well as the work carried out under the Twinning project.
Then, the self-assessment report of the pilot specialty “Chemical Engineering” of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology was checked.
The experts met with the administration of the university, members of the introspection group, faculty, students, graduates and employers, got acquainted with the laboratories, classrooms of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology and the resources of the Scientific Library.
Experts noted that the creation of the Sumgayit Chemical Park under the comprehensive program is fully combined with the higher education program at the university. It was emphasized that the tasks set in the specialty "Chemical Engineering" are basically fulfilled. As a result of the ongoing work and strengthening the material and technical base, the quality of education has improved. Experts said that it would be desirable to actively involve companies: SOCAR, Azerikimya in the educational process.
Experts approved the self-assessment report. They noted that they highly appreciate the curriculum, research activities, work with students, learning resources and indicators in the direction of student support, ability and literacy of students.
The meeting with graduates and employers was very interesting. Use of the potential of graduates was recommended. Graduates and guests of the university noted that they are proud of the university and support positive changes in the life of the university.
It should be noted that experts will soon submit a detailed report to the Ministry of Education and SSU.
