On December 12, Sumgayit State University held a meeting with European and local experts in the framework of the new Twinning project called “Support to strengthening Higher Education in Azerbaijan”, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education and the European Commission.

The meeting was attended by Tofig Mustafayev, a senior specialist in the Accreditation and Nostrification department of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as foreign experts, experts from Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan University of Languages and the teaching staff of the university.

Vice-rector for the Teaching Organization and Training Technologies docent Natig Talibov welcomed foreign and local experts and provided detailed information on the activities of the university, its structural and educational programs, as well as activities implemented under the Twinning project. He said that our university’s participation in EU-funded programs has become a tradition.

At the event, vice-rector docent Gafar Atayev, head of the Department of Differential Equations and Optimization Professor Fikret Feyziyev, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics Zafar Huseynov, head of the Career Center Amirkhan Isayev said that in the framework of the project, training sessions, trainings and meetings were held. “The development of the educational process is facilitated by the holding of joint events with various scientific and industrial organizations, the creation of a modern infrastructure, the optimization of management, the strengthening of the library and the activities of the Dissertation Council, the improvement of the periodical scientific publication, the quality organization of continuing education courses, the involvement of competent youth and the transformation of the university into an educational, research and innovation center”.

After the speeches, an interview was conducted on the program “Teaching of Mathematics and Computer Science” and a report of the self-assessment group of the educational program was heard. The chairman of the program is the head of Department of Differential Equations and Optimization Fikret Feyziyev. Later, a meeting was held with teachers Mustafayev Valeh Azad oglu (head of the Department of Computer science, professor), Gurbanov Nabi Tapdig oglu (head of the Department of Mathematical analysis and functions theory, professor), Mammadov Akber Jomerd oglu (associate professor of the Department of Differential equations and optimization), Yusifov Bekir Mahammad oglu (associate professor, Department of Differential equations and optimization), Aghayarov Matlab Huseyngulu oglu (associate professor, Department of Mathematics and Methods of its teaching), Huseynzade Shahla Surkhay gizi (docent of Department of Informatics, head of SSS for Mathematics Faculty), Ismayilova Gunay Gafil gizi (senior lecturer of Department of Mathematical analysis and functions theory).

Then a meeting was held with students Aghayeva Ulviya Ulduz gizi (group 496), Ahmedova Vafa Elshan gizi (group 497), Dadashova Afet Yagub gizi (group 497), Abaszade Reman Ramiz oglu (group 406), Shadlinskaya Leyla Razim gizi.

Experts looked over the student semester and graduation papers (theses), student examination materials. They familiarized themselves with classrooms, laboratories, a library, and other resources.

Then the experts met with graduates in this specialty: Ahmedova Aynur Nofel gizi (a mathematics teacher in secondary school No. 14), Ahmed Sabina Musa gizi (a mathematics teacher in secondary school No. 35), Mammadova Yegana Alisa gizi (a mathematics teacher in secondary school No. 1) , Mukhtarova Shahana Zohrab gizi (Training Center "Yeni Shafag") and Gasimzade Zumrud Rahim gizi.

The meeting was held with representatives of employers: Hasanova Nushaba Ashraf gizi (director of secondary school No. 35), Hasanli Ilaha Shahbaz gizi (director of secondary school No. 11), Kerimli Natavan (deputy director of secondary school No. 11), Saftarova Goncha Tahir gizi (director of the Lyceum Tefekkur), Askerova Mahabbat (director of secondary school No. 176, Baku). Representatives noted that there are cooperation agreements with Sumgayit State University. Students undergo an internship and are interviewed about their future employment.

In accordance with the agreement, experts appreciated the university’s work in the field of strategic management, curricula, research, human resources, work with students, educational resources and student support. They also made recommendations to improve the quality of education in the program.
