On the initiative of the Intellectual Property Agency and the Ministry of Education, the Eurasian Patent Universiade (knowledge competition) was held.

The competition, organized by the Eurasian Patent Organization (EPO), was attended by students of educational institutions implementing secondary general, secondary vocational, and higher education programs in two age categories of EPO member states and other interested persons up to the age of 25.

The projects of more than 30 authors representing higher and general education institutions of Azerbaijan have been submitted to the Universiad Organizing Committee. The purpose of the Universiade is to support talented young people and to increase their interest in intellectual property.

According to the results of the competition, the students of the Lyceum named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva under the Ministry of Education of the first age category (10 to 17 years): Jamila Alizade and Alasgar Tarverdiyev were winners. Their joint project, “The Use of Bioplaton for Water Treatment of Water Reservoirs” was awarded by the jury. In addition, by Fidan Hasanzade, a pupil of the secondary school № 7 in Baku-"A method for separating naphthalic acid from alkaline cleaning of diesel fuel", by the students of the Baku European High School under the Ministry of Education: Taleh Aliyev and Zarifa Ahmedzade-“Synthesis of a new coefficient of oil production”, Laman Aliyeva and Philip Bakaldy's "Parachute for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles", Hamid Selimov, Aybaniz Ahmedova and Timur Kalayev's "Piezoelectric Anti-icing System" projects, and Sumgayit State University students in the second age category (18 to 25 years old): Seymur Talibov and Tayfun Hajili's project "Flexible Manufacturing Modules for Reconstruction of Old Model CAD / CAM" were awarded the Universiade award.

It is noteworthy that EPO was established in 1994. Our country signed the Eurasian Patent Convention on September 9, 1994, and in 1995 became a full member of the organization after ratification of the convention.
