In connection with the recent spread of the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) epidemic around the world, preventive measures are being taken in our country to implement the "Action Plan to prevent the spread of new coronavirus disease in Azerbaijan" by Cabinet of Ministers. As we know, in order to prevent the possible consequences of the coronavirus epidemic in Azerbaijan, which is spread in several countries, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to suspend the teaching and learning process in all educational institutions from March 3 to 9, 2020 and postpone all related measures.

According to the decision, the teaching process at Sumgayit State University was suspended. In order to ensure the implementation of the rector's order № R-19/1 dated 25.02.2020 on preventive measures on medical and preventive conditions at SSU, on March 6, Sumgayit State University was re-disinfected.

Employees of the Sumgayit Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology carried out disinfection against coronavirus in all educational buildings of the University – in corridors, auditoriums and laboratories, centers, public catering facilities and sanitary facilities.

It should be noted that in order to prevent the threat of coronavirus infection and increase the effectiveness of appropriate preventive measures, consistent work is carried out at SSU. In this regard, an educational event was held on February 14 at Sumgayit State University. The event was attended by the head of the department of Sumgayit Children's Hospital, chief infectious disease specialist of the city, Honored Doctor Sehri Babayev, doctor of Sumgayit Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, captain of medical service Arzu Babazade, epidemiologist of Sumgayit Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology Lamiya Mammadova, doctor of the Infectious Diseases Department of Sumgayit City Hospital No. 1 Ayten Abdullayeva, and the teaching staff of the university. Detailed information was given about the complications of the coronavirus and ways to prevent it.

Afterwards on February 25, Sumgayit State University was thoroughly disinfected.
