SSU HELD AN ONLINE MEETING ON THE PAYMENT OF TUITION FEES BY STUDENTS FROM SOCIALLY VULNERABLE FAMILIES
On June 20, an online meeting was held at Sumgayit State University to discuss the payment of tuition fees by students from socially vulnerable families and to have the names of students with this status reflected in the personal cabinets of those responsible, and to verify that the parents of these students belonged to a vulnerable group in accordance with the instructions sent by the Ministry of Education.
SSU vice-rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies, associate professor Natig Talibov greeted the participants and said that the main issue on the agenda was to accelerate the work of the subsystem of the system of payment of tuition fees for students from socially vulnerable families. He noted that the steps taken by President Ilham Aliyev to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in our country, the work done to protect the health of the population are met with great sympathy by the citizens of Azerbaijan. The Vice-Rector also noted that Azerbaijan is a social state and the civic factor is at the heart of the policy of President Ilham Aliyev, which is clearly reflected in the important steps taken to ensure the welfare of the population, in the expanding social programs. Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers signed a document "On the payment of tuition fees for students who are members of families belonging to socially vulnerable groups". The decision can be considered as the state's attention and care for education. This decision is one of the next humane steps in the field of education. In this regard, on June 19 at Sumgayit State University, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov instructed to expand the composition of the commission and speed up the work at a meeting of the rector's office dedicated to the progress of the online exam session of the spring semester of 2019/2020 academic year.
The Vice-Rector informed the officials in charge of this area that the rules set forth in the instructions must be followed when checking and approving the applications of the students named in their personal cabinets. If there is a discrepancy in the documents of any student, it is necessary to contact the student, get the necessary documents and check with the participation of a university lawyer. Documents on whether students registered in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are members of families belonging to socially vulnerable groups should be examined by the university.
At the online meeting, officials said that the personal cabinets were regularly monitored and contacts were established with students and their parents to send copies of the required documents of the named students online.
Sabir Behbudov, head of the Teaching Sectionof the Teaching Methodological Center, described the decision as a very important step, noting that the work being done at Sumgayit State University in this direction is at a high level.
