The British Council, an educational and cultural organization based in Azerbaijan, is implementing a series of dialogues on higher education as part of the British Council's Stay at Home program. One of these events was the last 11th webinar on July 15th. "Do you have to follow science in the era of COVID-19?" The online seminar was joined by the staff of Sumgait State University. The webinar was moderated by Summer Xia, Director for Azerbaijan of the Regional Higher Education Program of the British Embassy. Helen Sharman, a representative of the Imperial College London in the United Kingdom and a spokesman for the British Embassy the first British cosmonaut chemist, and Jim Al-Khalili, a physicist at the University of Surrey, made presentations at the event. It was emphasized in the speeches that science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and research are developing on a global scale, and are the basis of economic competition and the well-being of society. It was noted that during the pandemic we can meet scientists and researchers from a distance, which we could not see face to face. Taking this opportunity, we must not only monitor research from the outside, but also come together from a distance with inaccessible scientists to continue research, achieve innovation, and track scientific progress.

The webinar was attended by the head of the Scientific Section of Sumgayit State University, Associate Professor Samir Orujov, teacher of the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology Elnur Ahmadov, assistant of the Department of Chemistry and its teaching methods Ph.D. Ayten Niyazova, Sadagat Fatullayeva, an employee of the Assessment and Quality Control Department. During the event, our participants addressed their questions and comments to the presenters in an interactive way.
