The next online meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University was held in a video conference format on November 13. The souls of our martyrs killed in the Great Patriotic War were commemorated with a minute of silence. Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the participants and congratulated them on the glorious victory. He said that today the people of Azerbaijan celebrate the great victory. The Patriotic War, which began on September 27 under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, ended in a glorious victory. In a short period of time, the Azerbaijani Army achieved a great victory, destroying the armed forces established by Armenia for 30 years. The rector informed about the issues on the agenda, afterwards Natig Talibov, Vice-Rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies, made a report on the state of distance learning in SSU in the first semester of 2020-2021 in connection with the introduction of quarantine in the country. He noted that in order to prevent large-scale provocations and cyber incidents committed by the Republic of Armenia, online classes on the temporary restriction of Internet access in our country have been suspended. Online classes started on November 2. Classes are monitored. It can be said that attendance has significantly improved. Lectures, classes and laboratory works have been uploaded to the e-mails of students of all groups and to the university"s moodle.sdu.edu.az portal. Classes are held online on the Microsoft Teams platform in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Education, and first-year students have already accelerated their registration on this platform. Associate Professor Natig Talibov also noted that under the leadership of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov, a department on Distance Education was established at the Teaching Methodological Center and a studio on Distance Education was established in the second educational building of the university. Lessons on some subjects have already been filmed there. This allows students who are unable to attend online classes for some reason (limited Internet access) to be able to follow the course materials later. Director of the Teaching Methodical Center senior lecturer Faig Shirinov informed about the results of student admission to Sumgayit State University in 2020-2021 academic year. He noted that the results of the admission of students to Sumgayit State University according to the forecast plan are satisfactory. Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov spoke about the further strengthening of patriotic education of students at SSU. He said that the Second Karabakh War will go down in history as a glorious victory of Azerbaijan. All our people have shown unity and solidarity in achieving this victory. Thus ended the 30-year occupation. I congratulate the staff of Sumgayit State University on this occasion. Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov also noted that since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the number of volunteers in our country has been steadily increasing. Along with employees of Sumgayit State University, our students also voluntarily applied to join the army. In this regard, the members of the Student Youth Organization were distinguished by their activities in the propaganda campaign in the rear. Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev shared the good news about our liberated lands on his Twitter page, which was supported by TGT members on Facebook, Twitter, telegram and whatsapp groups. Vice-rector Ramiz Huseynov also said that the Student Youth Organization of the university continues its activities online in connection with coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in our country. The video prepared under the motto “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” is shown on monitors in the lobby of the university.

The Vice-Rector also noted that changes will be made to the memorial erected in memory of our graduates in the courtyard of the university these days. Along with the photos of our graduates who died for the freedom and independence of our country, the photos of our graduates who died in the April 2016 battles and the Patriotic War, full of pride and heroism, will be added.

Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Professor Ramazan Mammadov congratulated our people on this great victory. He noted that this victory will be a lesson for them forever. Karabakh belonged to Azerbaijan and will remain Azerbaijan. Professor Ramazan Mammadov gave detailed information about the approval of the topics of scientific conferences to be held at the university in 2021. Professor Mukhtar Samadov, Scientific Secretary, informed about the granting of the right to publish textbooks. He noted that 2 monographs, 2 textbooks, 1 methodical aid and 5 subject programs were introduced to the Scientific Council. Following the discussions, the publication of teaching aids was allowed.
