On December 11, Sumgayit State University hosted a scientific-practical conference on "Heydar Aliyev - the founder of the Independent Republic of Azerbaijan" dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

First, the memory of the leader was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Opening the conference, Rector of Sumgayit State University Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the conference participants and congratulated them on the glorious victory.

He noted that the Patriotic War for the freedom of our lands has become a heroic chronicle of our people. In this 44-day war, Azerbaijan put an end to nearly 30 years of occupation by crushing Armenia on the battlefield.

Against the background of this victory, the whole world saw a strong Azerbaijani state. The international community has witnessed the determination of our people to fight valiantly for their rights. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev presented the victorious Azerbaijani state to the world with this victory.

With 44 days of history, he has proved to humanity that he is the Leader of the Invincible People!

Our work is the work of truth! We won! We got Karabakh! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!

- We said. The will of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan, the courage of the victorious army, restored the historical justice with the blood of our martyrs!

We are a strong, and courageous people.

In the most difficult moments, we can unite like a fist. We experienced this in the Square Movement of 1988, when we signed the National Independence, when we were tested by the horrors of January 20, when we experienced the Khojaly tragedy, when we wrote the Epic of Return and Salvation together with the great leader Heydar Aliyev! In his address to the nation, National Leader Heydar Aliyev said: "I believe that with your help and support, Ilham Aliyev will be able to complete the fateful issues, plans and work that I could not finish. I believe in him as much as I do and have high hopes for the future." By developing the legacy of Heydar Aliyev"s statehood, he established a new, modern Azerbaijani state. If the national leader saved Azerbaijan from the danger of disintegration, disintegration and erasure from the political map, Ilham Aliyev turned Azerbaijan into a powerful state, mobilized all state resources to restore our territorial integrity.

Afterwards the lecturers made speech in the conference: Professor Shirkhan Salimov, Head of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern European Peoples -"Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan"s statehood", Gulbaz Rustamova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of World Economy and Marketing, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics -"Heydar Aliyev"s role in socio-economic development of independent Azerbaijan", Head of the Department of Foreign languages, Professor Nigar Isgandarova- "Development of education in Azerbaijan during the rule of Heydar Aliyev", Amirkhan Isayev, Associate Professor of the Department of History of the Peoples of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe, Head of the Career Center-"Today is the result of Heydar Aliyev"s army-building activity", first-year student of the Faculty of Engineering Mahbuba Mammadova "Ilham Aliyev, who realized the political ideas of Heydar Aliyev". They spoke about the glorious life of Heydar Aliyev, the founder and architect of the Azerbaijani state, the achievements of all periods of his leadership, the exceptional services of the Great Leader in strengthening the independent state and statehood of Azerbaijan.

They noted that the great ideas of the great leader Heydar Aliyev are being successfully implemented in our country. President Ilham Aliyev is leading independent Azerbaijan towards a new tomorrow by developing it creatively and in accordance with the realities of the new epoch. The victory in the Patriotic War played a great role in further strengthening Azerbaijan"s international position and increasing its prestige.
