On December 11, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an online meeting with officials responsible for international relations and work with international students in Azerbaijani higher education institutions. The online meeting attended by Tural Ahmadov, acting head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Education, Ilgar Dadashov, deputy head, Mujdat Hasanov, head of Sector for the work with foreign students, specialists Gunay Jafarova, Hajar Kalbiyeva, Elnara Nasirova, employees of the Quality Assurance Agency, Science and Education Department. The topic of the online meeting was "Education of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan."

The meeting focused on the education of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan, increasing attention to the education of foreigners, issues arising from the implementation of the "State Program to increase the international competitiveness of higher education in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023" and international cooperation, accreditation and nostrification.

It was noted that compared to the previous academic year, in the 2020/2021 academic year in Azerbaijan, although students from Japan, Swaziland, Mauritania, Lesotho, Malaysia, Austria, Kuwait, Italy, Brazil, Algeria did not study, new students have been admitted from Hungary, Malawi, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Venezuela.

It was brought to attention that a video report on “Views of foreign students on Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict”, “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” was prepared with the participation of foreign students studying in Azerbaijani universities with the support of Tahsil TV; a video report with the participation of foreign students on the victory in the Great Patriotic War was prepared with the support of Azerbaijan Television, shared with the public on TV and social networks; propaganda work on the topic of #KarabakhisAzerbaijan was carried out on the basis of the principle of volunteerism of foreign students studying in local educational institutions, and most of the other planned activities could not be implemented due to the pandemic. The participants were introduced to the dynamics of the number of foreigners admitted to Azerbaijani higher education institutions in the last 3 years.

The online meeting was attended by more than 64 delegations. Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Gafar Atayev and Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Foreign Students, Ph.D. Samira Mammadova took part in the meeting from Sumgayit State University.

At the end of the meeting, the questions of the participants answered by the representatives of the Ministry of Education.
