In accordance with the order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. F-530 dated 11.12.2020 on the organization of the examination session of the autumn semester of 2020/2021 academic year in higher and secondary special institutions, the examination session of the autumn semester at Sumgayit State University started to be held online on January 11. Rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov joined the online examination process organized by the Faculty of Economics and Management in the 1st year of specialty of Economics and the 4th year of specialty of World Economy and inquired about the attitude of students to the exams. First, the rector listened to the answers of the first-year students majoring in Economics (group 730) who took an exam on the subject of Azerbaijani history by associate professor Amirkhan Isayev. Professor Amirkhan Isayev said that students actively participated in the exam. The rector informed the students that in accordance with the current situation caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, all technical opportunities have been created for the successful organization of online (distance) education at SSU and a number of important decisions have been made in favor of students. He noted the implementation of a number of simplified rules by the decision of the Scientific Council in the implementation of the current assessment in the autumn semester of the 2021 academic year. He noted that the 50% limit on attendance is abolished and all students are admitted to the exams. The number of predetermined free works was reduced from 10 to 2. Students who do not attend classes or do not score at all during the semester are given 20 points as entrance exams - 10 points for independent work and 10 points for classes and laboratory classes. The exam questions were reduced to 90 questions. Expressing confidence that the students' knowledge will be objectively assessed, the rector answered the questions of the students participating in the exam and wished them success. The students, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the conditions created for the exam. They expressed their deep gratitude to the rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, for the high level of organization of the online exam session. It should be noted that in order to monitor the examination session at Sumgayit State University, to ensure the timely and prompt resolution of possible complaints, the Appeals Commission consisting of 8 people headed by Sona Maharramova established at SSU. At the same time in order to operatively eliminate the problems that may arise in the process of examination conducted in the form of distance (distance), an examination staff consisting of 14 people was established under the leadership of Associate Professor Natig Talibov. The exam session of the autumn semester at SSU started on January 11 and will last until February 6. The rector and vice-rectors will regularly monitor the session.
