The next online meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University was held on February 10. Rector of the University, Chairman of the Scientific Council Professor Elkhan Huseynov opened the meeting, introduced the issues on the agenda and spoke about the development of educational and scientific activities of the university in all areas.

The rector also noted that the process of vaccination of citizens over 65 has begun. In this regard, the Ministry of Education held an online meeting with the rectors of all universities. The rector recommended to all heads of departments to keep this issue under strict control. He noted that the head of the Human Resources Department of the university Nofal Ahmadov must provide daily information on vaccination, as well as weekly information to the Ministry of Education.

Faig Shirinov, Director of the Teaching Methodological Center informed the members of the Scientific Council about the results of the exam session of the autumn semester of 2020-2021 academic year at bachelor's, Sabir Khalilov, Head of the Doctoral and Master's Department at the master's level. Director of Sumgayit State Technical College under SSU, Associate Professor Matanat Pirguliyeva informed about the organization, conduct and results of the exams and said that the autumn semester exams at the college were conducted in accordance with the relevant instructions in online format.

The head of the scientific department, associate professor Samir Orujov informed about the approval of the plan of scientific research work to be carried out at SSU for 2021-2025. He noted that in 2021-2025, SSU will conduct research on 42 problems, 41 topics and 390 works. Following the discussions, a 5-year research plan was approved.

Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs Ramiz Huseynov made a detailed report on the events to be held at Sumgayit State University in connection with the announcement of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the plan of events was approved.

Prof. Ramazan Mammadov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, spoke about the organization of Dissertation Councils at SSU during the special quarantine regime. He notified that by the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 27.12.2019 (protocol 14-R), 3 dissertation councils with 2 specialties each were established at SSU to organize the defense of doctoral dissertations: FD 2.23- Dissertation Council (2306.01- Organic Chemistry, 2314.01- “Petrochemistry” specialties), FD 2.24 Dissertation Council (5706.01- “Azerbaijani language”, 5716.01- “Azerbaijan Literature” specialties) and FD 2.25- Dissertation Council ( 3337.01- “Information-measurement and management systems”, 3338.01- “System analysis, management and information processing” specialties). The Vice-Rector gave detailed information about the organization of the Dissertation Councils during the special quarantine regime.

Professor Mukhtar Samadov, Scientific Secretary, informed about the granting of the right to publish textbooks. He noted that the Scientific Council received 4 teaching aids. 2 of them are textbooks and 2 are subject programs.

After the discussions, the publication of teaching aids was allowed. Thus, the meeting of the Scientific Council ended.
