WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN, WILL NOT FORGET THE KHOJALY GENOCIDE!
Sumgayit State University is holding a series of online events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, one of the most terrible tragedies that befell the people of Azerbaijan.
The first lessons in all faculties of the university were dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy and the memory of the victims of the genocide. During the classes, teachers told about the horrors of the tragedy committed against the residents of Khojaly with the participation of the Armenian armed forces and the 366th motorized infantry regiment of the Soviet army.
On February 24, at the Faculty of Engineering of SSU, the event entitled “We have not forgotten, will not forget the Khojaly genocide!” was held in online format.
The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the Khojaly victims, and a video reflecting the tragedy was shown.
Opening the event, the dean of the faculty, associate professor Ulduz Aghayev, said that while watching this video, which everyone watched with heartache, we saw the most horrific terrorist act committed by Armenian nationalists and chauvinists against the civilian population. This shows that the Azerbaijani people have been subjected to the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide by Armenian nationalists for 200 years. In his address to the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, national leader Heydar Aliyev said: "This ruthless and cruel act of genocide has entered the history of mankind as one of the most horrific acts of mass terror." At the initiative of the Great Leader, the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the first time gave a political assessment to this issue. As a result, every year the anniversary of the tragedy is widely marked both in the country and abroad, and the real faces of Armenians are shown to the world community.
Kazimova Shafiga, chairwoman of the Student Youth Organization, spoke about the genocide committed against the civilian population with the participation of Armenian terrorists and soldiers of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Soviet army.
Gudrat Agazadeh, a student of group 625, spoke about the brutal crimes committed by Armenian fascism against Azerbaijan in the book "For the Cross" by writer-journalist David Verdiyan and in the book "Revival of our spirit" by writer-poet Zori Balayan. Mahbuba Mammadova, a student of group 639, recited the poem "Troubled Khojaly".
In conclusion, Dean Ulduz Aghayev noted that our people will never forget the Khojaly genocide and other tragedies. Today we can proudly say that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army has dispelled the long-standing myth of the invincibility of the Armenian Army for 44 days, forced all forces to reckon with the will of the Azerbaijani people. This victory broke the defeated people's syndrome about Azerbaijanis and restored the people's trust. The whole world has seen that the people of Azerbaijan will never reconcile with defeat and will sooner or later achieve their goal. The people of Azerbaijan will continue to show great confidence in their leader, show restraint, strengthen the military victory as a political victory, and unite around the President of Azerbaijan as a fist.
