On February 25, Sumgayit State University hosted a scientific-practical webinar on "Ensuring the efficient use of water resources" on the "Zoom" platform, organized by the Department of Ecology of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology.

The webinar was attended by: Faig Mutallimov, Head of the Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Leading Engineer of the Water Resources, Processing Facilities Management and Ecology Department of the Azersu Open Joint-Stock Company, PhD in biology Elnur Nasirov, Director of the Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Water Problems, Ph.D., Assoc. professor Elman Gambarov and head of the laboratory, Ph.D., Assoc. professor Gara Jafarov, Khalid Guliyev, Deputy Head of Sumgayit Water Supply and Sewerage Department, Rafig Shamiyev, Vusal Ibrahimli and other employees of Sumgayit Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Department No. 4 of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Antiga Khanum, Director of Sumgayit City Child and Youth Development Center No. 1, department director Sevinj Maharramova and other employees of the center, as well as staff, masters and students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of SSU.

Opening the webinar, the head of the Department of Ecology, Associate Professor Rahila Ahmadova greeted the guests and participants and made a detailed speech on the topic. She reminded the Order dated July 27, 2020 by President Ilham Aliyev "On additional measures to ensure efficient use of water resources", taking into account the shortage of water in the country and the situation in reservoirs, as well as in order to increase water resources, improve the supply of drinking and irrigation water to consumers. She noted that according to the order, the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" was approved, relevant instructions were given to government agencies to implement the Action Plan. Important work in the field of water supply, one of the key areas of infrastructure construction has been done. In this direction, with the direct support of the state, major projects have been implemented to create new reservoirs and expand the network infrastructure.

Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of SSU, Associate Professor Mahal Muradov informed about the work done in recent years in the field of efficient use of water resources, drinking water supply, waste and produced water management, protection of water resources from waste. He noted the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the elimination of water problems, additional measures to ensure the efficient use of water resources and information on the Action Plan for 2020-2022.

Afterwards the following persons delivered speech: Sector Director of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Faig Mutallimov on "Efficient use of water resources", leading engineer of "Azersu" Open Joint Stock Company Elnur Nasirov on "Actual problems of water resources management", head of laboratory of Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Water Problems Associate Professor Gara Jafarov on "Main directions of water resources and water use", Deputy Head of Sumgayit Water Canal Department Khalid Guliyev on "Water supply of Sumgayit". They noted that measures to improve the supply of drinking water to the population are being implemented in all regions of Azerbaijan, including the capital Baku. They noted that a commission set up by the commission set up to more accurately determine the number of water management and reclamation facilities in the territories liberated by our Glorious Army will determine suitable water management and reclamation facilities. The commissioning of these facilities will ensure the sustainable supply of water to areas with difficult water supply, the expansion of arable land, the elimination of water shortages, high agricultural productivity and the restoration of ecological balance. All this will ultimately allow the country to become more productive.

The webinar continued with a discussion of scientific reports. Numerous questions of students were answered during the discussions.
