An online meeting on "Pedagogical ideas in the legacy of Nizami Ganjavi" was organized by the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Faculty of Philology at Sumgayit State University on April 14.

Speaking at the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Sevinj Hamzayeva conveyed the greetings of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov to the participants of the event and thanked everyone who contributed to the meeting.

The dean spoke about the importance of the "Year of Nizami" and the unique heritage of the great poet, informed about a series of events held at Sumgayit State University in the framework of the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi". She noted that the proclamation of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in Azerbaijan by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was met with great joy in the country, and the staff of Sumgayit State University was very enthusiastic. She stressed that the traditions started with Heydar Aliyev successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. The proclamation of 2021 as the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" and the liberation of Shusha as the cultural capital of Azerbaijan and the special attention paid to our national and spiritual values in the speeches of the head of state are indicators of the successful continuation of Heydar Aliyev's policy. We believe that this particularly important state document signed by the President of the country will be, first of all, an incentive for our literary scholars to explore new areas of research.

Associate Professor Sevinj Hamzayeva then brought to the attention of the topics covered in the program and gave the floor to the speakers.

Speaking at the event, Tarana Babayeva, Associate Professor of Psychology, Baku State University, spoke on "The concept of man in Nizami's legacy, the problem of identity," emphasizing the importance of the event in terms of studying and promoting Nizami's legacy. She noted that among the classics of Azerbaijani literature, the artist, whose work is of great interest and deserves to be studied in depth, is, first of all, the great poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi.

Afterwards Associate professors of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of SSU Shikar Huseynov spoke on "Praise of music in Nizami's creativity", Sevinj Karimova on "Age of man in Nizami's pedagogical heritage", senior teacher of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Shalala Adigozalova on "Nizami's thoughts on teacher and his personality", Roya Ismayilova, a teacher of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, spoke on "Educational issues in Nizami Ganjavi's theory of education (moral, physical, family education, family-child relations)." They noted that N. Ganjavi, a genius poet and a great educator, put forward such valuable thoughts and ideas on a number of general issues of education, training and upbringing that have not lost their significance today. In his works, Nizami always valued science, knowledge, high morals, and stated that a person without science is powerless. Nizami called on the people not to be indifferent to their fate, to understand their rights, to acquire enlightenment and knowledge in order to claim their rights, but also to acquire not all kinds of knowledge, but useful knowledge.

Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, Associate Professor Aytekin Mammadova spoke about the urgency of studying and promoting the rich literary heritage of the great poet, who made great contributions to the treasury of world literature, noted a series of events dedicated to the anniversary of the great poet.
