SSU HOSTED THE REPUBLICAN SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON "REGIONAL ECONOMY: MODERN ASPECTS AND CURRENT ISSUES" IN AN ONLINE FORMAT
On April 22, Sumgayit State University hosted an online Republican scientific conference on "Regional Economy: Modern Aspects and Current Issues" dedicated to the 880th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi.
The conference was attended by MP Academician Ziyad Samadzade, MP Vugar Bayramov, representatives of ANAS and higher education institutions operating in our country.
Opening the conference, SSU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Professor Ramazan Mammadov, conveyed the greetings of Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov and spoke about the historic victory achieved under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. The Vice-Rector noted that the historic victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day Second Karabakh War is changing the broad and holistic picture of the processes in a large geopolitical space.
Speaking about the importance of the conference, the vice-rector noted that the informative research of the speakers and conference participants, their scientific results and practical proposals will make a practical contribution to identifying and eliminating problems in the regions of our country. The Vice-Rector declared the conference open and wished success to the conference.
MP Academician Ziyad Samadzadeh said that the military-political victory of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev over the Armenian aggressors in Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas is the greatest event in the centuries-old history of our people. The great victory has set new goals and tasks for the Azerbaijani state. Noting that the Great Return is one of the priorities in the strategic document "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development" approved by the President, the academician also spoke about the thoughtful and systematic state measures taken to revive Karabakh.
MP Vugar Bayramov made a report on "Prospects for regional economic cooperation in the context of the Karabakh Victory" and spoke about the urgency of the conference. Noting that the Upper Karabakh and Kalbajar-Lachin economic regions, which have great economic potential, have been occupied for a long time and looted by Armenian vandals, the MP stressed that the liberation of these two important economic regions from enemy aggression will play an important role in Azerbaijan's economic growth.
Head of the Post-Conflict Territorial Rehabilitation Scientific Center of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Akif Musayev made a report on "Assessment of economic potential of the liberated territories and selection of comparative advantages". He noted that the new economic value to be created in the liberated territories will many times exceed the financial costs of the Azerbaijani state. Rehabilitation of these areas will create many new jobs. Thus, the implementation of new infrastructure projects will have a positive impact on the employment of our citizens. Economic development will create new jobs.
Professor Arif Shakaraliyev, Head of the Department of Trade and Customs Organization of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Professor Hajiaga Rustambeyov, Head of the Department of World Economy of Baku State University, Alovsat Aliyev, Head of the Department of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS and other speakers said that the reintegration of these territories into the country's overall economy and the use of new international and regional transport and logistics corridors will give a major impetus to Azerbaijan's development.
Saadat Humbataliyeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, SSU, in her report "Social Directions of Regional Economic Development" said that despite the difficult historical period, Azerbaijan has confidently passed a great evolution in socio-economic and cultural life and ensured a stable, secure and modern life. recognized. The country's international prestige has grown significantly, the traditions of statehood in society have been strengthened, and the construction of modern socio-economic infrastructure has been successfully implemented.
Executive Secretary Galib Huseynov, Head of the Department of Business Organization and Management, informed about the further work of the conference. He noted that 125 reports and theses received from 17 scientific and higher education institutions of the Republic were selected by the Organizing Committee of the conference, 101 reports were included in the agenda of the Conference after plagiarism was checked.
