RECTOR OF SSU RECEIVES OLYMPIC WINNERS WHO NAMED STUDENTS OF THE KOREA ADVANCED INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (KAIST)
Republican and international Olympiads are science competitions covering all schools of the country. At present, the interest in the Olympics is growing day by day, the Olympic movement is expanding. The experience of recent years shows that these competitions, initiated by the Ministry of Education, aim to identify students with special talents in various subjects, assess their knowledge and skills, increase students' interest in those subjects, and allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a healthy competitive environment. It should be noted that Azerbaijani students return from the international Olympiads with great success. Each of them speaks of a bright future for itself and the country it represents. It is gratifying that Matin Muradli, son of the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Sumgayit State University, associate professor Mahal Muradov, and Siraj Anar oglu Yahyazadeh, son of the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Aynura Yahyayeva, were distinguished with their success. Both of them deservedly participated in national and international competitions, Matin Muradli won a gold medal at the 31st International Biology Olympiad IBO Challenge 2020, and Siraj Yahyazadeh won a gold medal in physics and the first place in physics in the country. He was awarded the Honor Prize at the European Physics Olympiad, the Honor Prize at the International Physics Olympiad, and the bronze medal at the Jautikov Olympiad and the Metropolis Olympiad. As a result, they were recently named students at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) in South Korea.
On April 30, SSU Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov received Matin Muradli and Siraj Yahyazadeh, congratulated them on being named students of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and wished them success in their future lives and rewarded them valuable gifts. He said that you are the pride not only of the school staff, the city where you live, but of our republic as a whole.
The rector also noted that the reform-oriented projects implemented in the education system of Azerbaijan in recent years have created a fertile ground for the formation of highly intelligent, innovative-minded, research-oriented young people who serve to strengthen the country's competitiveness. Subject olympiads and international knowledge competitions have a place in our country. The subsequent achievements of the winners confirm that justice is ensured in the organization of the Olympics in the country. Thus, the winning students show high results in the international competitions in which they participate, including university entrance exams. The rector also spoke about the importance of subject Olympiads held at SSU for students. He noted that the relations between our university and secondary schools are developing successfully, as before the COVID-19 pandemic, "Open Day" was held every Saturday, and pupils got acquainted with the university. The work of our university's scientists in revealing the talents, skills and potential of students in the "Scientists of Tomorrow" competition implemented by the Ministry of Education is undeniable. The rector also stressed that Azerbaijan, which is strong and dynamically developing, needs highly intelligent personnel. On the basis of the President's decrees, the normative-legal base of education has been strengthened, large-scale measures have been taken to create a modern education system based on advanced technologies. In this direction, Sumgayit State University fulfills a great mission and annually organizes subject Olympiads in various specialties. All these events are aimed at ensuring the successful performance of our students in the Olympic movement of our country. At the end of his speech, the rector once again congratulated Matin Muradli and Siraj Yahyazade on their victory, and shared the joy of the winners' parents and teachers on the example of associate professor Mahal Muradov and associate professor Aynura Yahyayeva.
