On May 8, Sumgayit State University hosted an online event on "The role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the education of young people abroad" dedicated to the 98th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Foreign Students and the Council of Young Scientists.

The event was attended by a group of professors and teachers of the university, as well as professors of the Faculty of Education of Gazi University of Turkey Dr. Salih Shahin and Dr. Servet Karabakh.

Opening the event, Vice-Rector for International Relations Associate Professor Gafar Atayev greeted the guests and participants, spoke about the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of society, his contribution to the development of science, education and culture. That is why national leader Heydar Aliyev has always considered youth issues as one of the main components of his policy. During the period of Heydar Aliyev's presidency in 1969-1982, hundreds of new educational institutions, youth centers, military schools were opened, thousands of young Azerbaijanis were educated in prestigious universities of the former USSR and acquired modern specialties. Today, a large number of these young people are closely involved in the state building of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan, work in senior positions in law enforcement agencies, render invaluable services in the development of our science, health and culture. Therefore, the young people themselves welcomed Heydar Aliyev's return to power for the second time. Just as Heydar Aliyev relied on the youth, the youth perceive him as a great leader, an invaluable historical figure, the founder of our national state-building. Now the spirit of the Great Leader is happy, because for the first time we are celebrating the 98th anniversary of the birth of the national leader in the lands of which he wanted to see, liberated from occupation.

Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography, Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev made a report on "The role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the education of young people abroad." He spoke about the services of the Great Leader to the state and people of Azerbaijan. He noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev has always attached importance to the worldview and scientific development of young people. In its large-scale activities, the development of education has always been an important area. The decisions made by the genius leader, who always appreciated the role of education in the development of society and the importance of the formation of personality, the conceptual ideas put forward by foresight, historical

recommendations still contribute to defining the main directions of educational reform in our country.

Dr. Servet Karabakh, Professor of the Department of Politics, Gazi University, Republic of Turkey, who participated in the event as a guest, made a presentation on "The role of leaders for states". Prof. Servet Karabakh spoke about the definition of the term leader and leadership, its characteristics, the qualities and abilities of leaders. He gave information about the ancient leadership skills of the Turks, the ancient states, administrations and leaders. He cited examples of this, noting that some states in history are associated with the names of their leaders. He stressed that Atilla was the leader of the Hun Empire, Fatih Sultan Mehmet the Ottoman Empire, Napoleon France, Gandhi India, Ataturk the Turkish Republic, and Heydar Aliyev the leader of Azerbaijan. He expressed his deep respect for the national leader Ataturk and Heydar Aliyev, expressing the leadership skills with examples.

Hamza Sahin, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Philology of SSU, in his presentation on "Heydar Aliyev's value to education" referred to Heydar Aliyev's famous statistics on education on each slide and explained those quotes with a beautiful explanation. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists Aysel Garibli delivered speech on "The role of Heydar Aliyev in the development of the energy industry in Azerbaijan", Gasanova Aphsana (Georgia), a fourth-year student of the Faculty of History and Geography of SSU, made a report on "The tradition of education of the national leader abroad", Mataullah Saidi (Afghanistan), a first-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Power Engineering of SSU made a report on "Azerbaijan-Afghanistan cooperation". They noted that the great leader Heydar Aliyev was a prominent political and state figure of the twentieth century, and he was highly valued at the level of world leaders.

The name of the great leader is rightly associated with the name of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan. All the events and main achievements of the development of Azerbaijan over the past half century are directly related to the name and activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Throughout his career, this great genius has preceded the political processes in the world and in our country, put the national interests and the interests of statehood above all else, and made fateful decisions. The speakers noted that the traditions of education abroad, founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev, have been successfully continued in recent years.

In conclusion, the speakers stressed that although national leader Heydar Aliyev is not physically among us, his ideas and statehood traditions will always live.
