On May 27, a cooperation agreement was signed at Sumgayit State University on the establishment of branches of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Energy and Solid State and Semiconductor Physics operating under the Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network Open Joint-Stock Company.

The agreement was signed by the rector of Sumgayit State University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, and the director of Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network, Khandan Ahmadov.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the guest and expressed satisfaction with the expansion of mutual cooperation. The rector spoke about the attention and care shown by President Ilham Aliyev to the development of science and education. He noted that this important factor is included in the priorities of state policy. This process is not limited to the capital, but also covers the regions. In accordance with the order of the President and the program of socio-economic development of the regions, Sumgayit State University has signed a number of projects aimed at meeting the needs of qualified personnel for enterprises working with technology in accordance with modern world standards. SSU has signed cooperation agreements with many prestigious universities around the world in bilateral and multilateral formats. He noted that in terms of the quality of education at the university, relevant work has been done to bring classrooms and laboratories in line with modern standards, an open-air training museum on electric power and a high-voltage substation training ground has been established in the courtyard of the II educational building. The rector also noted that the opening of branches of the two departments of the Faculty of Physics and Power Engineering of SSU today will expand our mutually beneficial cooperation, as a result, students will have internships in these institutions and will be formed as qualified personnel of the future.

Director of Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network Khandan Ahmadov spoke about the importance of the meeting, issues of mutual interest, the establishment of a branch of two departments of Sumgayit State University in Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network, the contribution of this cooperation to the development of our state and education. He noted that the cooperation agreement will play an important role in defining new perspective directions of future research.

Then the delegation got acquainted with the open-air training museum on electric power and the high-voltage substation training ground in the yard of the second educational building of the university.
