The exam session of the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year at Sumgayit State University has started in online format.

On June 3, the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, once again watched the exams held at different faculties.

During an online meeting with students, the rector noted that given the difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic in education, students who can not regularly attend online classes, as in last fall exam session, this exam session was discounted for all students. According to these discounts, the 50% limit on attendance was abolished and all students were admitted to the exams. The 10 points for attendance were given to free work. The number of pre-determined free works was reduced to 2. Students who do not attend classes or do not score at all during the semester are given 20 points as entrance exams - 10 points for free work and 10 points for classes and laboratory classes. The number of exam questions has been reduced to a maximum of 90, and the number of questions on exam tickets has been reduced from 5 to 3. The rector also noted that Sumgayit State University has an eight-member appeal commission headed by Associate Professor Sona Maharramova, Head of the Department of History and its Teaching Methods, to monitor the examination session and ensure the timely and prompt resolution of complaints. At the same time, in order to promptly eliminate the problems that may arise in the online examination process, a 14-person examination staff was established under the leadership of Natig Talibov, Vice-Rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies.

Expressing confidence that the students' knowledge will be objectively assessed, the rector answered the questions of the students participating in the exam and wished them success.

It should be noted that the exam session of the spring semester at SSU began on June 1 and will last until July 5. Exams are administered online through the Microsoft Teams platform or the Zoom program. In general, the transparent, fair and objective conduct of the exam session of the spring semester is in the focus of the leadership of SSU.
