On July 7, Sumgayit State University held an online meeting on the results of the 2020/2021 academic year and the tasks for the new academic year.

Welcoming the participants, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov stressed the importance of measures taken to prevent the spread of the epidemic and vaccination in the context of the coronavirus pandemic in the world and in our country. The rector said that SSU was working in this direction in accordance with the requirements of the day. Touching upon the issues on the agenda of the Scientific Council, the rector stressed the importance of carrying out all the work to be done at SSU at a high level.

Faig Shirinov, Director of the Teaching Methodological Center, briefed the members of the Scientific Council about bachelor’s level, Associate Professor, Head of the Doctoral and Master's Department Sabir Khalilov about the master's level on the results of the exam session of the spring semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, the success indicators of other faculties and other statistics. Giving information about the organization of exams, the director of Sumgayit State Technical College under SSU Matanat Pirguliyeva said that the exams of the spring semester at the college were conducted in online format in accordance with the relevant instructions.

Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Power Engineering, Associate Professor Tamella Ahmadova informed about the opening of branches of departments in industrial enterprises. He noted that in 2017, a branch of the Department of Electromechanics of SSU operating under the training center of "Azerishig" OJSC was opened. Relevant measures were taken in accordance with the regulations of the branch and the activity of the branch was of great importance for the formation of practical skills of students. Also, the dean noted the memorandum on cooperation signed between SSU and Sumgayit Technology Park and the Scientific Council on the work done to establish branches of "Electrotechnics and Energetics" and "Solid State and Semiconductor Physics" departments under the "Sumgayit High Voltage Electric Network" Open Joint-Stock Company.

Following the discussions, the Statutes of both branches were approved.

The Scientific Secretary, Professor Mukhtar Samadov, informed about the implementation of the decisions of the Scientific Council, the issuance of the right to publish teaching aids (vultures), the approval of the work plan of the Scientific Council for the 2021-2022 academic year. He noted that despite the limitations and difficulties associated with the pandemic, in the 2020-2021 academic year, the meetings of the Scientific Council of SSU were held regularly in accordance with the regulations, the participation of members of the Scientific Council was 98-100%. The issues submitted to the Scientific Council were discussed in detail and decisions were made in a collegial form. All decisions were kept in focus and implemented in a timely manner.

The Scientific Secretary also noted that the Scientific Council received 9 titles of teaching and educational-methodical works, which were discussed at the meetings of the Editorial and Publishing Council and the Teaching Methodological Council and submitted to the Scientific Council with a positive expert opinion. Following the discussions, the publication of teaching aids was allowed. Then the work plan of the Scientific Council for the 2021-2022 academic year was approved.

Elina Mahmudova, a first-year student of the Faculty of Economics and Management, was informed about the exemption from tuition fees due to the fact that she was the family of a martyr.
