The first online meeting of the Scientific Council on the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year was held at Sumgayit State University on September 15.

Rector congratulated the members of the Scientific Council, teaching staff on the beginning of the new academic year. He noted that the agenda of the Scientific Council includes preparations for the new academic year, sanitary-epidemiological measures held at SSU in connection with the pandemic, participation of staff and students in the vaccination process, discussion of the action plan to be held at the university on September 27 and November 8 Victory Day.

On behalf of the members of the Scientific Council, the Rector congratulated Valeh Mammadov, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Engineering, on his 80th anniversary and wished him good health and new creative success. It was noted that he was awarded the Order of Honor.

Vice-Rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies Natig Talibov informed about the state of preparation for the 2021/2022 academic year, Director of SSTC Matanat Pirguliyeva informed about the state of preparation for the 2021/2022 academic year at SSTC under SSU. They noted that the necessary work has been done to organize education in the traditional form, technical capabilities have been checked, taking into account the organization of education in the traditional form, lesson plans and lesson schedules have been prepared.

Vice-Rector for Economic Affairs Naib Hajiyev, Head of the Personnel Department Nofal Ahmadov, Director of the Training Methodological Center Faig Shirinov spoke about the sanitary-epidemiological measures taken at SSU in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and the state of staff and student participation in the vaccination process. It was noted that in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection at SSU, regular disinfection is carried out in all three educational buildings of the university, sanitary-epidemiological measures are always in the center of attention and implementation. The participation of SSU employees in the vaccination process is organized at a high level at the university, daily information is provided to the rector by the head of the personnel department Nofal Ahmadov, and weekly information is sent to the Ministry of Education. Students are vaccinated by actively participating in the vaccination process on a voluntary basis. It should be noted that at SSU, first of all, professors, administrative and technical staff over 65 years of age, and then employees of other age categories gradually participated in the vaccination process. More than 90 percent of our staff, who are sensitive to their health, the sanitary-epidemiological situation in our country and consider it a civic duty to be vaccinated, have already been vaccinated. At present, the deans and teachers of each faculty are carrying out propaganda work for the active participation of students in this process.

Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov informed about the work to be done in connection with the Remembrance Day on September 27 and the events to be held in connection with the celebration of Victory Day on November 8. He noted that President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev signed decrees on the establishment of the Day of Remembrance and Victory Day in Azerbaijan. According to the decrees, September 27 will be marked as the Day of Remembrance in our country, and November 8 as the Day of Victory. In accordance with the orders, the plan of a series of events to be held at Sumgayit State University was approved.

Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs Ramiz Huseynov informed about the establishment of the “Nizami Ganjavi” scholarship at Sumgayit State University. He noted that in accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on declaring 2021 the "Year of Nizami Ganjavi" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, according to the relevant order of the Minister of Education, it is planned to establish "Nizami Ganjavi" scholarships in higher education institutions. Accordingly, the issue of establishing a scholarship named after Nizami Ganjavi at Sumgayit State University and the regulations of the scholarship were presented to the members of the Scientific Council. It was decided to award the scholarship to talented students with high academic performance in the first semester of the current academic year to Orujlu Nazrin, an excellent student of the Faculty of Philology.

Scientific Secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov informed about the approval of curricula, syllabi prepared in accordance with the new educational programs and the right to publish teaching aids.

Concluding the meeting of the Scientific Council, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov wished success to the whole team in the coming academic year.
