SSU STAFF MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN THE HIGH-LEVEL UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES FORUM ORGANIZED BY THE ECONOMIC COOPERATION ORGANIZATION INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION - ECOEI
On September 30, the Economic Cooperation Organization Institute of Education - ECOEI organized an online "High-Level University Representatives Forum". The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was established in 1985 to strengthen economic, technical and cultural cooperation between Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. At present, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are members of this organization, including Azerbaijan.
The main purpose of the High-Level University Representatives Forum is to identify needs for internationalization and to assess the existing structures and conditions of the participating universities in this context. The expected result is the development and implementation of appropriate, useful and sustainable methods to support the internationalization of higher education in the region. The forum was held in English.
President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Education Institute M. Akif Kirecci opened the forum and greeted everyone. Along with Azerbaijan, the forum was attended by rectors, vice-rectors, professors and teachers of the Universities of Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
The forum continued its work in 3 parts:
1. Round table on Student Mobility in the ECO Region: Facts and Perspectives
2. Round table on Strengthening Scientific Research: Cooperation and Resource Sharing in the ECO Region: Libraries, Educational Technologies and Systems, Laboratories
3. Round table on the internationalization of higher education: Cooperation: Accreditation, Credit Transfer and Accumulation Systems, Consortia, Recognition of Specialties, Joint Diploma Programs
Sumgayit State University was represented at the forum by associate prof. Ramiz Huseynov, Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, docent Lala Mahmudova, Head of the Department of Economics, and Saadat Humbataliyeva, Associate Professor of Economics Department. During the forum, Associate Professor S.A. Humbataliyeva spoke about the organization of education at Sumgayit State University, relations with other foreign universities and exchange programs.
