On the occasion of October 5 - International Teachers' Day, the rector of Sumgayit State University received a group of university teachers.

First, the memory of our martyrs who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Rector of the University Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the staff on their professional holiday and wished them success in their difficult and honorable work, spoke about the development of education in the country, the work done to strengthen the material and technical base. He noted that the educational reforms initiated by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev, the adopted State Programs create an incentive for every teacher. The implementation of extensive reforms in the field of education by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in recent years, the development of education, increasing the salaries of employees and scholarships of educational institutions is a manifestation of the appreciation of our teachers and educators. The rector noted that the President's instructions and orders in the field of education contribute to the development of Sumgayit State University. The high conditions created here and the purposeful work carried out have made a fundamental change in the quality of education.

The rector also noted that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system has placed new responsibilities on teachers. During the difficult pandemic days, our teachers worked hard to overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic and ensure the sustainability of education, as well as to involve students in the online learning process. Today, the role and work of teachers in the development of our education, as well as in achieving success in other areas, in the patriotic upbringing of our soldiers fighting for the Motherland, in instilling in them the national spirit is undeniable. The patriotic youth fought valiantly in the counter-offensive for Karabakh, in the liberation of our territories occupied by the enemy, and rewrote the heroic history of independent Azerbaijan.

At the end of his speech, the rector wished the teachers success in fulfilling their sacred profession with honor and responsibility.

Then, a group of teachers were awarded cash prizes and honorary diplomas by the university administration for their active participation in the public life of the university and their effective scientific and pedagogical activities.
