On October 26, at Sumgayit State University, a joint scientific-practical conference on "The role of the Baku Music Academy named after U.Hajibeyli in the development of culture in Azerbaijan" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Baku Music Academy named after U. Hajibeyli was held.

The conference began with an overture from the opera "Koroglu" by genius Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs of the University, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov, who conveyed the greetings of the Rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov. He noted that 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibayli. On May 26, 2021, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order to celebrate the 100th anniversary. This Order is once again a clear example of the President"s attention to this ancient, the first such music school in our country and in the Muslim East. Today, the Academy of Music plays an invaluable role in preserving the musical wealth of our people, its multifaceted and wide-ranging activities by choosing the path of integration into the world educational space.

In his speech, Vice-Rector Ramiz Huseynov said that our people celebrated U.Hajibeyli"s birthday as the first National Music Day as a winning nation. He stressed the importance of celebrating the Music Festival in Shusha. He noted that as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, our lands were liberated from the clutches of the enemy, and Uzeyir Bey"s works are heard today in his native city of Shusha. Founded by Uzeyir Bey, the Baku Music Academy, which has achieved many successes and victories, has become a well-known center of higher education abroad. The Baku Music Academy has always coped with the tasks assigned to it, and several generations of prominent artists who have written brilliant pages in the history of Azerbaijani culture are graduates of this educational institution.

BMA Vice-Rector for Scientific and Creative Affairs, Honored Art Worker, Professor Gulnaz Abdullazadeh thanked the leadership and staff of SSU for the initiative to organize a conference dedicated to the anniversary. Professor Gulnaz Abdullazadeh spoke about the history of the institution she represents. She noted that the Baku Music Academy has a great role in the development of music culture and education in Azerbaijan.

They noted that during the 100 years of its activity, the Baku Music Academy has played an important role in the integration of Azerbaijani music into world music and world culture. The speakers also noted that the glorious victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day war helped to restore our historical traditions and cultural events in Karabakh. Today, the whole of Karabakh has become a construction site, and Shusha has become the center of our culture. The resolute speeches of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who cleared our lands from Armenian aggressors with the strength of our brave army, the hoisting of our tricolor flag in our liberated lands, the enthusiasm of our people, the Victory Parade in Baku, Kharibulbul Festival, Vagif Poetry Days ... Each of them is a pleasant and unforgettable moment for us.

The music played between the speeches gave a special mood to the conference.
