On October 28, in connection with the Victory Day, a group of teachers and students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology visited the memorial erected in the courtyard of the university for martyred students and graduates and laid flowers in front of the monument. They commemorated the souls of our martyrs who died for the freedom and territorial integrity of our homeland with a minute of silence.

Dean of the Faculty, Associate Professor Mahal Muradov spoke about the heroism shown in the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, the revenge of our martyrs on the battlefields as a result of the bravery of the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of Glorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief. He said that in the Patriotic War, which ended with the Glorious Victory, the Azerbaijani soldier literally wrote the history of war and pride of our people. “Occupying our lands and keeping them in captivity for almost thirty years, Azerbaijan delivered crushing blows to the army units and saved our native lands from the occupiers. Martyrs and veterans! Now this name has become a symbol of honor and pride in Azerbaijan. Our martyrs are always commemorated at Sumgayit State University, the families of martyrs are visited, they are taken care of and paid attention”.

The dean also noted that the historic victory of our victorious army in the Great Patriotic War continues with the economic power of our country. “Construction measures are being taken rapidly to revive our native lands, which have been cleared of invaders. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of our victorious army, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, pays attention to every moment of the construction work that began after the Victory, just as he managed our military operations during the 44-day Patriotic War with the skill of a true commander. The head of state regularly visits our liberated territories and is interested in the progress of work. Every visit of the President, every building he has laid brings a new life to these lands. A world gives our people hope, joy and pride”.
