In connection with the Victory Day on November 8, a series of events and inter-faculty sports competitions started at Sumgayit State University on October 25. Students of Sumgayit State Technical College under Sumgayit State University and SSU competed in 3 types of sports (table tennis, checkers and chess). The sports competition held among the students is one of such events. It should be noted that 8 teams tested their skills in the competition.

The inter-faculty sports competitions were summed up on October 27. In the competitions held in the conditions of intense and interesting struggle, the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology was awarded the 1st place, the Faculty of Mathematics the 2nd place, and the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics the 3rd place in table tennis. The Faculty of Mathematics took 1st place in chess, the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics took the 2nd place, the Faculty of Economics and Management took the 3rd place, the Faculty of Mathematics took the 1st place in checkers, the Faculty of History and Geography took the 2nd place and the Faculty of Philology took the 3rd place. The award ceremony was held on October 29.

Opening the award ceremony, the university's Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Gafar Atayev, said that such events are of great importance in terms of ensuring and promoting the popularity of sports among students. He noted that a special state policy is being implemented to ensure the decisive role of sports in the formation of a healthy lifestyle of young people, the development of national self-consciousness, the education of patriotic feelings. The special attention and care paid by the state to sports in Azerbaijan have also had a significant impact on the sports life of Sumgayit State University. One of the greatest achievements of our country is the upbringing of healthy young people who work with great devotion to their people, homeland and land. During the 44-day Patriotic War, our young people demonstrated patriotism both on the battlefield and in the information war behind the computer. Under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the brave Azerbaijani Army ended the 30-year occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War and liberated Karabakh. The 44-day Second Karabakh War marked a new page in the history of Azerbaijan - Victory Day. Then the award ceremony began.

The students, in turn, expressed their deep gratitude to the university administration for the high level of organization of the competition.
