In connection with the Victory Day on November 8, in accordance with a series of plan of events at Sumgayit State University, on November 2, Samir Karimli, Associate Professor of Department of History and its teaching methods, gave a lecture to students majoring in Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Management.

First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the sons of the Motherland who died for the protection and restoration of our territorial integrity, the liberation of our lands from occupation.

First of all, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Associate Professor Aynura Yahyayeva congratulated our people on the Victory Day on November 8 and spoke about the historic victory of the brave Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the 44-day Patriotic War. Then the floor was given to Samir Karimli, Associate Professor of Department of History and its teaching methods, for an open lesson dedicated to Victory Day.

Associate Professor Samir Karimli emphasized the irreplaceable role of modern Azerbaijani youth in achieving the Glorious Victory. He said that the Azerbaijani Army, which launched a counter-offensive in response to another provocation by the occupying Armenians in Karabakh on September 27 a year ago, ensured the territorial integrity of our country with a 44-day Victory March. Our Armed Forces have fought valiantly to clear every village, settlement, city and hill from the enemy, and have made great historical achievements. The Patriotic War ended in victory as a result of the determination, will, courage and heroism of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. This historic victory was achieved at the expense of the blood of our eternal martyrs, the unity of our people and was written in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijan's independence. Thanks to our historic victory, today the number of countries wishing to establish closer ties with Azerbaijan is constantly growing, and the Second Karabakh War has shown it once again.

The war and its consequences once again demonstrated the unity of the people and power and mutual trust.

Samir Karimli also noted that the youth of Azerbaijan showed selflessness in achieving a historic victory. The main burden and the main task in achieving our historic victory was fulfilled by the young generation that grew up during the 18 years of President Ilham Aliyev's leadership of the country. The upbringing of our youth in the spirit of patriotism led us to Victory and restored the historical justice of Azerbaijan. I would like to note with great pride that students and graduates of our native university are among those who hoisted the tricolor Victory Flag in our ancient lands freed from Armenian slavery. The victory was not only the greatest victory of 2020, but also the greatest victory of recent centuries! In this Battle of Victory, dozens of graduates, students and employees of Sumgayit State University and their families fought heroically, showed courage and won the title of victorious soldier. The victory in the Great Patriotic War also cost the blood of thousands of our martyrs. We bow to the souls of our martyrs with deep respect and reverence, we remember their memory together.
