On November 4, Sumgayit State University hosted an online scientific-practical conference on "Victory - a solemnity of our national pride."

First, the memory of the martyrs who died for the integrity of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Opening the conference, the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, spoke about the position of the 44-day Patriotic War in the history of Azerbaijan"s statehood and world military history, the far-sighted policy of the Great Leader to build an army, and the history of the Glorious Victory, which is its logical consequence with the successful continuation of this policy by President Ilham Aliyev. He congratulated the participants on the upcoming Victory Day and stressed the importance of holding such conferences to protect the results of the Victory. He noted that the month of November, rich in holidays honoring the history of our statehood, is now even more significant for us. Because by another decree of President Ilham Aliyev, November 8 will be celebrated as Victory Day in our country every year. Thus, one of the state holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan was added.

The rector also noted that President Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan, wrote the Chronicle of Victory in the Second Karabakh War, which began on September 27 with a counter-offensive against Armenian military provocations and resulted in the surrender of the enemy on November 10. As a result of the resolute will and wise foreign policy of the head of state, the heroism and bravery of our victorious army, the unity, and solidarity of our people, the Armenian aggressors were severely defeated in both the military and political arenas. The known resolutions of the UN Security Council were implemented with a convincing victory of our army. The 44-day Patriotic War ended with the end of nearly thirty years of occupation and the restoration of our territorial integrity. The great victory achieved under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev has been written in golden letters in our history.

Afterwards the following people made speeches accordingly: Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography, Professor, Honored Teacher Adil Bakhshaliyev on "The road to victory is the result of President Ilham Aliyev"s modern army building", Samir Maharramov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe on "The unity of Government and nation is the celebration of our victory" Assistant of the Department of Accounting, Ph.D. Dilara Amiraslanova "Our economic strength is the basis of our glorious Victory", Senior Lecturer of the Department of Literature of Azerbaijan and Foreign Countries Afat Rafiyeva "The role of President Ilham Aliyev"s interviews with international media organizations and Lala Bunyatova, Chairwoman of the Student Scientific Society, Associate Professor of Biology and its Teaching Methods, made a report on "Education of youth in the spirit of patriotism is the beginning of the path to victory." They stressed that the new glorious history of the Great Patriotic War, written by the unity and will of the people, is an example of truth and human justice. They noted that as a result of President Ilham Aliyev"s appeals to the people and interviews with foreign media, the activity of our citizens on social networks, as well as the statements of Armenian scientists at international conferences and articles in the press, Azerbaijan won not only on the battlefield but also in the information war.

The conference participants commemorated the memory of our martyrs, wished patience to the families of martyrs, and wished good health to our wounded and veterans.
